Thanks Trifili, much obliged.

Cleared of charges, for an alleged incident occurring in Oct 2023, which is good. The off season can be a brutal time for a lot of the sports participants in league, AFL etc having to let out some steam and have fun which could lead to some dramas. Most with families tend to do family things and keep to themselves.

Just hope we have a clean bill of health with our players.

Can’t believe all the talk about Trindall & Hynes.

Trindall has had half a dozen good games, and has just come off DUI charges. If you ignore origin and just consider club football, Hynes has been probably the 2nd best halfback for the last 3 years, I’d take Hynes over Trindall in a heartbeat. Also think Some time with a physcolgist would do him wonders, football ability is huge- just needs to get mentally right again.

Hynes just doesn't seem like a big game player. Similarly to Hunt, he does well when the team is on top, but doesn't seem to be able to dig a team out of trouble or take the big moments. Trindall is younger, has all the skills and doesn't appear to get overawed by the moment. Personally, I think he'd be a great buy if he can be pried out of Cronulla.

Great assessment by you.

This place can be very quick to get on a bandwagon.

Trindall has to do a lot more and more often to achieve the status some in here have already given him.

Hynes is a fullback who was stuck behind a better fullback at the Purple Cheats and thus went to market after a good year filling in as a utility Mr. Fix It much like Wishart has been used in this years Purple Cheat's side.
Went to Sharks as an unproven and dare I say manufactured halfback. Like the rest of the Sharks, he's a bit of flat track bully. Great when everything is humming along nicely. Goes missing just like Hunt when it counts. And lets get real, 2nd best halfback? Nonsense. He's not even in the top 5 NRL halfbacks. Cleary, Hughes, DCE, Walker, Moses all easily in front of him. Dearden too if you count him as a 7.
Sure, there's a bit of a Trindall bandwagon and he's still got a lot to prove but you can tell he's a genuine half with footy smarts - they're rare. His performance last weekend was masterful.

Now, if you were to offer me Hynes as a fullback - I'd take him instantly. But if you were to offer me a choice between Trindall and Hynes as halfback - I'd pick Trindall every single time.

Hynes is signed until 2029 and Trindall untill 2025. Not sure what your point is?

I posted in another thread, we need to use Hunts money on Trindal. He would seem a realistic signing, he wouldn’t need to relocate. His chance to earn Hynes money. Still young enough, if he loves Cronulla that much, he can go back in 3 years after he is done with us.

Exactly this, people forget how random it was for Hynes to be the Sharks halfback when he first signed there. It was out of necessity he was put there. He had a good year when, as you've said, all went his and the Sharks way, but when it didn't his weaknesses were glaring. He's never been able to organise them properly, he's never delivered a clutch moment, his kicking game is average at best and he is weak under the pressure of expectation. Doesn't all this sound familiar? He's younger Ben Hunt when playing at half. Hynes is very clearly a fullback to me that could do a good job at 6 as well if need be. He's not at all a half.

Jury is out for me on Trindall. He's had a handful of good games, so there's no way I'm throwing the sort of money at him some are suggesting. But, in saying that, for the right price I'd take him as a half option for sure. Him, Fogarty (who I still think could leave Canberra end of 2025) and Pezet need to all be targets, I'd take any one of them.

Hynes signed on with the Sharks to play in the halves, so it wasn't that random.

He was a complete makeshift halfback. He always played 6 coming through the younger grades, and his skill set was never suited to be a first grade 7. That is perfectly on show now. Good player, not a good halfback.

Do you think having 3 years of soft draws make a few Sharks players look better than what they are? This would also impact them when it comes to finals. They are bottom 8 bullies that will pile on points against those teams and because they play the top sides less than any others, the players stats are inflated. I remember one year they played the low ranked sides either side of the origin period and the good sides during the origin period. They also play less games against top 8 sides these last few years than any other team.

We cannot complain as the Saints had a pretty good draw in 2024. They were scheduled to play both 2023 grand finalists during the origin period but and they still failed to make the 8. This clearly showed that Saints squad is pretty poor and definitely need changes in players for 2025 to improve.
