Hmm grand final one year, gone the next, certainly not the Dragons way of doing business, we would have been bumbling around well into next season
Yeh but it shows you how fickle this professional sport is these days
Every club that does not make the finals no matter what the reason (through the media) the coach is automatically under pressure.
How is this game going to be better with 19 - 20 teams without more rookies.
We are heading towards a mini EPL with the super rich and powerful clubs will keep on keeping on retaining the best until retirement and Coaches Bennett, Bellamy, Robbo, Cleary etc will coach until they are 90.

The rest like us ATM, well (if the media butt out and stop fuelling fire) are going to have to ride the wave and accept to continue battling... with an occasional out of the box year.

There is not enough decent coaches out there without recycling old failures. Maybe Mary will finally get another gig.
Where are the players coming from?.
Where are the 1st grade coaches coming from as now they are spreading into the NRLW game.?
Where are the good CLUB CEO's and GM's and recruitment heads going to come from?
Where is all the better football department staff going to come from
All this has to be considered to be spread across 20 clubs..
we struggle to fill 17 now...to meet expectations from all forms of media and fans

Walters gone from Broncos.

They haven't mucked around, the Broncos management. How long did we have Mary before he got sacked?

Yeah but Kev got them to a GF and then tanked. Our beloved Mary was always a lot smarter than that. Remember he got us to - in his own words - 85 minutes from a GF.
Mary borrowed from the old showbiz saying of "keep 'em wanting more".

For Kev the only way left was down. Mary, clever thinker he was, kept the board thinking - surely the only way is up.

You see our Mary was - like Daryl Kerrigan in The Castle - an ideas man. Gym painter. 95 metres fields. Tries off kicks don't count. Getting comfortable being uncomfortable. It's all part of the journey. 85 minutes from a GF. I don't get to pick the teams. Goes out and meets the guy who dropped the 2015 GF on his jet ski. That's some creative thinking right there ladies and gentlemen!!!!
Mary had a ready made excuse for everything so every new season our board in its wisdom decided to rub his idiotic bald head for luck and hope for the best.

To be fair poor Kevvie defintely seemed as woefully unequipped as Mary to be a first grade NRL coach with his only qualifications being that he was a dumb flog who once played for the Broncos. And we should give him some credit - he did try a few Mary-isms on his "journey". Remember when QLD weren't allowed to say the other team's name? What about this year when despite the cold hard mathematical facts, Brisbane were "still going to play in the finals". ??? That's got the genius of Mary all over it.

Bye Kevvie you dumb clown. Maybe you'll have to go and get a real job now. And lastly, Brisbane can't play.

You paint what appears like a realistic picture of problems facing the NRL, BLM01. I hope that the NRL know what they are doing.

The NRL don’t seem to realise they are killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Every year basically 4 of the same teams will be in the 8 and the remaining soon to be 16 teams will fight it out for 4 spots. The fans of those teams will soon lose interest. They need a draft.

You must be young because this guy was very entertaining

Just a once in a lifetime great footballing talent was Phil Blake. Just to have a player like him in our team would be fantastic. We did have him in 1993 and 1994 which was good. He certainly played for a lot of other clubs, the main one being of course Manly.

At 19 he was already a genius in the era of no protection and plenty of very tough men targeting you.
