The Rumours Thread

I agree so much I personally think flanno did a good job this year with limited quality players that he inherited. He will continue to improve our side but give him time and get off his back a bit. He has already identified our biggest problem (Hunt) and called him on it in his end of year review. As for last year he didn't really have a choice but to ask Hunt to stay. If he didn't keep him then he would come into a new team without a half. Now he is sorting things out give him time. In my opinion best coach we have had since Bennett. Not that is saying much but be patient he may surprise the non believers in a few years especially if he can take advantage of our juniors.
Exactly and isn`t he the only coach to have won a GF outside the big three since whenever, and I know people will say that was tainted, I don`t care, because it shows a ruthless edge that all great coaches must have.

I suspect Mam will be punted before too long and RW put on a very very short leash. They can’t behave in each others company.

I also suspect L M will be given an ultimatum and if he doesn’t like it he’ll retire.

I also suspect that if Luc, Lodge & JAC are in the same change room then something will blow up.

If Souths could get Bennett and Broncos Madge why couldn’t we as I would have happily waited a year for either and would that not have been better than S F, D Y & K F?
This only confirms that you are a very suspicious character OT !!!

I think Flanno had a higher opinion of hunt than what can be credited. See Flanno had Gallen who he sent onto the field as his henchman and the others followed suit. Me thinks Flanno thought he can get hunt to do the same but by round 20 Flanno realised how wrong he was.
Well he needs to come out and say he was WRONG because
1.People on here are saying he was right,BUT THE TRUTH IS you are correct,I think he knows he f***ed up,and
2.We STILL Have a problem with getting rid of Hunt when we had a GOLDEN opportunity to punt him after six years of failures
Obviously Flano wasn’t watching Hunt even when he was at the club OR he is a bad judge of what we needed to do to get this roster into shape sooner rather than a year or two later.
This was no small f**k up that can be swept under the carpet because it continues to have ramifications and I am sure if things don’t improve with results the board will look at accountabilty for that decision

But who would you have had playing #6 & #7 this year instead? KF and Sullivan? Bcs that would have been it.

I think its quite obvious that we are not sweeping this under the carpet. And Hunt might still be there next year. Flanno had to do what he thought was right then and what he thinks is right now. I also think that if you are waiting for some sort of apology from Flanno, you'll be waiting for a long long time. When was the last time you heard a coach apologise for a player selection or wanting to keep a player. Any coach !!

Why are some people still Flanno bashing, we have better things to do than worry about the coach. I said in an earlier post if you cant handle the moral status or are concerned about his coaching style or that he cant get players then just dont support the Dragons. This constant blaming the coach for everything is just BS. SF will be judged and he'll either make it or break it and ruin his career in the process. For the time being he has my support.
It blows my mind that after over a decade where we had to watch three of the laziest, most insipid and damaging coaching appointments in a row - Price, McGregor and Griffin - drag our team to some of the most miserable depths I've ever seen as a Saints supporter - that there is a small ignorant minority in the fanbase who don't have the intelligence to see that we have in SF the best guy who was available for the job at the time. The appointment of Flanno was the best thing to happen to the club since Bennett.
Every time I see a post critical of SF's appointment I just roll my eyes and wonder what the dopes who criticise him are smoking.

As reported by this masthead on Sunday, Hunt is wary of his contract dramas being a distraction for Mal Meninga’s side.
Isn't is nice to see that this ass clown is "wary of his contract dramas being a distraction" for the Australian side. Wouldn't it have been nice if he had the same respect to the club side he was captain of when he was busy sending text messages to red Nose Buzz Rothfield last year and publicly stoking up the drama last year while in the QLD Origin camp.......
What a legacy this imposter is going to leave at the Dragons. Yet another long term disaster we thank our moronic bald headed court jester, Paul McGregor for.

I am also a Hunt hater for what he has done to the club but who would flano replace him with if he had of punted him when he had the chance. Imo he had no choice to keep him at the time

Yep. The succession planning left a lot to be desired. Especially in an era where the #7 has become such a focus of the game even while #7s seem to mature so much later. There are not many Galvins running around who can step straight from pathways into the NRL.

At the same time, it is hard for clubs to warehouse young talent in the lower grades without them being plundered. Though Melbourne seems to be able to do it with Pezet for example.
