But what does it matter if he "came back on time" if he refuses to train?

To me, it stinks of someone maximising payments, then playing a mental health card, 6-8 weeks after the event, with the goal of reneging on his contract.

Because he came back, that's the point, he was meant to be at training after his annual leave on a certain date and he came back, so he has fulfilled that obligation, he then asked for sick leave, that has ended, so up to that point he has done nothing wrong, you can't ask for any of that money.
Legally as far as i can tell, he is sweet on that part, ethically and morally is another matter..

Actually, is that corrrect? I thought he just didn’t show up initially, then said he wanted to leave a,d went on sick leave. I’m not sure of this, but differences in the process mean a lot, and my understanding is that he wasn’t up front with the issue and tried to play games.

I suspect the dragons are cranky because Frank had no intention of coming back (bar maybe showing up in his car to drop off his brother), so saints feel like they have been denied a chance to find a replacement.. but if its just a quibble over the dates of annual leave.. I mean I agree who cares...

Honestly I think its more than that however.. I mean there is definitely a childish component... i.e. a pi$sing contest.. but that said the next time a player manager wants to pull this stunt at the club... they wont.. this little attempt to get a commission for himself... has really smeared the player manager, and franks reputation.

My POV is purely ethical

The fact he is demanding more money for a new club is further evidence it's more than an 'offensive' comment.

Happy should they eventually cease calling for repayment, and piss him off

Indeed, it would seem it really has backfired on them both and if serves as a deterrent to others then the whole painful mess will be worth something...
