The people at the Dragons who are in charge of player development and who decide who is a keeper and who is not are not up to the task and should be replaced.

So we let go of good players (Bostock and Glover) and keep some players who are never going to reach N:RL standard (Sloan and Flanagan).

In addition, we fail to promote our reserve grade coach to one of our assistant coaches and instead keep Dean Young, a coach who has never shown success at any level.

Draagon's management is playing favourites and because of this, the club will find it very difficult to succeed.

Hey @possm - Dean Young is not that bad. Wayne Bennett loves him and he did ok at the Cowboys. He was part of the NSW team set up and helped Flanno at PNG before. He cannot be that bad as he keeps getting roles. He is the least of the Dragons problems. Mick Ennis may be a guy that can change things around. He sounds switched on. Played at a few clubs under different coaches and won a comp. Looking at pics of the boys training, I see alot of Ennis in the frame talking to players and Flanno. Looks like he is well onboard.

I would rather Averillo instead of Garrick. Hopefully that one comes off. Averillo can fill in more spots and has more speed than Garrick. Averillo will make up the loss of Finau. I think he will have a Tamale type season at the Raiders and will be one we should have held onto.

How many on here have seen Reed play....from memory he has played 1 KOE cup match and the rest in Flegg and Ball. We don't have much to go and yet many pushing for first grade already...he may prove to be a winner but let him prove himself in KOE for at least half a season..

The club is forcing a decision by not recruiting a first-grade halfback. From what I've seen, Atkinson is more suited to five-eighth. This policy also highlights the coaches desire to keep his son in the halves.

So, if they are not going to buy a halfback, then give Reed the chance to show his skills. Let Reed play at 7 with :Atkinson at 6 during the trials, then make a decision.

He is one of the leftover elements of the 'Old Boys Club'.

'Bennett loves Dean Young' and yet Bennett has not had him as part of his coaching staff.
Young did poorly when coaching in the lower grades.
Young was NSW assistant coach (Defense) this season and was a desaster which led to a costly SOO loss.
Young was our Defensive coach this season and managed to deliver one the NRL's worst defensive stats for the season.

A good player does not necessarily transform into a good coach. Mary is another example. I'd say if Craig Young were not Dean's father, Dean would be not be an NRL coach/assistant coach.

You always received your money’s worth from Dean and as you have said Jubilee , his dad was one of the great old school front rowers of his era.

Many wonderful memories of big Albert breaking through the opposition’s defensive line .

Unfortunately like most former players remaining at their clubs at career’s end , in one capacity or the other , they mean well , however some simply do not possess the necessary skills nor experience to do the task at hand - “ you either have it or you don’t “ and at the end of the day the club could be affected for a number of seasons due to their lack of business acumen or coaching skills.

All I can say is and mentioned before , played with the guy at our once famous club, and have said the same thing (also other hangoners) they should be nowhere near the joint .......

Well hopefully Watsford is not that loyal to the Young family and if he is not performing will be let go. I can see Dean Young being snapped up by an NRL club sooner than we think. He was in the conversation with the Knights job and with 2 new clubs coming he may get an opportunity. Good to see he is applying for other roles as he is open to leaving and not just hanging around until he gets the job he supposedly is guaranteed for in the future.

Yes indeed possum , Harry Bath would be the rare exception as he most certainly knew exactly how to extract the very best from his players - the man was worth his weight in B&H gold !
