The Simpsons Movie

I liked it a lot. Got some great laughs out of it.

Best bit: Ralph - 'I like men now'

Others: Spider pig, Spider pig, does whatever a spider pig does, can he, swing off a web, no he can't, coz he's a pig, watch out!, here comes a spider pig

Arnold Schwarzeneger as president

Worst bit: Bart and Flanders, horrible combo and Bart always hated Flanders throughout the episodes.

8/10

TBH while i found the storyline rather far fetched, i think it was as though the characters in the Simpsons were playing characters resembling themselves in a movie in the Simpsons universe - if that makes sense - ie with Reiner Woflcastle playing "President Schwartznegger, and the Simpsons themselves watching the movie. It may not have been the intention, but for better or worse that is how i see it.

And in regards to cartoon nudity, it was done brilliantly with Barts wang. Probably one of the funniest wang-hiding sequences i've ever seen.
It isn't really as though any episode of the Simpsons has a realistic storyline...

The Wolcastle/Schwartznegger thing was always going to happen - they are essentially the same character! I thought taking the piss out of Arnie as president was pretty bloody funny.

However Hank Scorpio = Russ Cargill - wasn't even an attempt to change the voice which was a tad disappointing...

I thought the movie overall was pretty bloody good. There are plenty of people that bag The Simpsons, however not many shows could generate the demand this show has in the cinemas. New episodes aren't as strong as the past, but they still go pretty well.

Not sure why people are wanting to bag the movie without actually seeing it.

I took my daughter to gold class to see it and we had a great time.. Excellent move well worth going to see..

While Mr Fahrenheit and Bumble may have surpassed me now in sheer magnitude of fandom, I was one of the original diehards. Can still remember watching the first ever airing of the show on Australian tv, and for about the first six seasons I didn't miss a single episode on its first date of airing here (a streak only interrupted because of a trip overseas).

Anyway, the movie is very mediocre. There's probably an average episode's worth of funny material (and I don't mean average as in 'standard', but rather 'unremarkable'- think Season 9) unfortunately with an extra 60 minutes attached.

The majority consensus has surprisingly been overwhelmingly positive, although the show has always had different layers of humour, but more recently several of those layers have been well and truly eroded away. After experiencing the reactions of the many cinema-goers crammed into my session I've begun to wonder whether this lowered sense of wit is symptomatic of the decline in quality of the simpsons, or if adversely the show has simply fallen in quality as a way to appeal to the broader, though less discerning, market of the average public. Either way, it was gut-turning to hear such ridiculous comments as "Just as good if not better than the classics", some people even showing the temerity to evoke Season Four in comparisons. Conan O'Brien would be rolling in his grave.

I dunno mang, I just know I enjoyed it. The layers were there - loved the Fox ad at the bottom of screen, the Disney reference, the 'code black' line... as well as the silly innocent humour that The Simpsons do better than anyone else. Doesn't compare favourably to peak-era Simpsons but still better than half the movies I've seen this year. Family Guy lol that sh*t doesn't come close to touching Simpsons.

It is funny to sit in the cinema and look at the age demographics.

I questioned myself was 'I too old to be seeing this' and 'am I out of place amongst all these immature twits?'

It's funny as well to see what some people laugh at too.
Some laugh at plain crashes into cars or buildings while others laugh at the nude bits.

The part I thought was ultra funny, in the Simpsons Movie, was when Homer's in the cabin in Alaska and says, "I'll never leave Alaska for America."
Not one person in the cinema got that gag.

Who else sh*t their pants when it goes, "to be continued."
Immediately?

I thought, here we go, Lord of the rings, do it over a 3 year course, this is an incredibly short movie, I'm blowing my stack!

At least half of my cinema got that one. But not to worry, I'm sure close to zero % of yanks would get it if someone said "I'll never leave Australia for Tasmania" so it's all good.

When to be continued was put on the screen; in my head i was thinking surely not, and getting ready to start a riot if it was for real  Awesome movie anyway, will definitely go see it again.

btw, my cinema was full of mainly 15-30 year olds, and that was on a Thursday nite. So I'm sure there were more families and watnot there for the weekend sessions.

Well, this IS the generation that watches 'Big Brother' religiously, spends more than they earn on ringtones, puts frangipani stickers on their cars because "Everyone else is doing it" and honestly thinks that you spell arse 'ass.' What do you expect?

I am a diehard season 3-10 watcher and havent watched a new episode in about 4 years and I guess it shows because I just didn't find it funny. For some reason the humour didn't seem like The Simpsons as in all the jokes they did could of been done in a real-life movie and they just stunk of Futurama humour (which I hate). The audience I was with didn't really laugh that much either.
The worst joke had to be when the government guy goes "WooHoo the American government found someone they're looking for!" I mean I cringed at that one because it wa so lame and predictable and unfunny. I guess I'll just stick to the classics.

I have never laughed so hard as I did when they were in the convenient store and the random family walks into the store OH MY GOD! THERE THEY ARE!

One of my favorite jokes (at least, one that I don't think has been mentioned here yet) was when the crawl came up at the bottom of the screen for "Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?"

It was nice (i can't think of a better way to describe it). It certainly didn't disgrace the simpsons brand, however it was no where near as funny as the peak seasons (4-8). I'm glad some people here appreciate the old simpsons.

Anyway I'm not a big fan of family guy, i think stewie is the only consistently funny character on the show, everyone else is very hit and miss.

Finally saw it on the weekend - loved it. Wasnt quite sure what to expect as movies of TV shows arent really normally very good.

But I was pleasantly suprised.

The bit with barts donger was funny, after all the typical hide the rude bits scene only to have the gap in the fence show it caught everyone off guard and had a good laugh.

Also liked the part where something bad happened and all the religious people in the church ran to moes and all the people in moes ran to church. Clever.

Enjoyed it - never really stopped enjoying the simpsons. Im gonna hate it when it finally finishes.......its kind of like star wars when I saw the last episode it was the first time in my life that there was never going to be another!
