there are 2 types of players in the NRL, ones that when the going gets tough in a game they turn it up a notch and play harder and faster and try get thier team back into it and ones that when the going gets tough they just sit back and hope someone else will do thier job for them. Our club has a lot of those in the 2nd category and have had for some time. Players who were told after a loss that " Good effort, nice try" or " we're close to where we want to be, so keep it up".
Too many pats on the back regardless of the results and so the fall into the comfort zone, after all it's a job and if your bosses keep telling your doing a good job you won't lift you'll just keep doing the same and think your job is safe.
This has been going on at our club for over 20years and won't be fixed in 5mins it will take years and a lot of new personel to change this.
Brian Smith was turning things around and we were getting there but he was punted and he hadn't got to the juniors ranks yet to get the message across to them that near enough wasn't go enough. Hagan was just too nice to stick it up players and Ando had been in our systems before and just did what he knew from then.
SK is changing things, he's upset a few people and fans along the way but in the long run this club will get rid of that soft underbelly and near enough attitude.
We just have to be patient and wait for it to turn, the bandwagoners will disappear but we don't need them we need passionate fans they will support the changes and back the club.
