good thing
I am not sold on kearney just yet. Tbh none of the current crop of players have improved since he has taken over bar hayne. Mannah has improved but i think that was natural progression.
I am not convinced about his coaching of nz either and back to parra, his win loss ratio is terrible.
I think da took the wrong option. He had a winning formula and had to tweak it with some srructure but in 2010 he went kearney and tried to play full structure untill it was too late to run to the finals and went back to adlib.
You dont think there should be any incentives to keep coaches, rather than be tempted to just sack them after a bad run?
Good to see a quote from the Chairman on this issue, and good to see that - at face value anyway - The Board isn't in any hurry to extend Kearney's contract yet..."Obviously, at this stage, he's not in a hurry to sign and we're not either."
ok so we've all had a winge about our team and our coach,
we havnt been good this year so far ,but im looking at other things SK is putting into place ,we all talk about his "structured" plans which believe me it goes beyond the 1st grade side. SK was bought in to change the culture of the entire thought process and how we go about becoming a professional outfit ,and that includes our junior "structure" and retention.
now for this to happen ,at some point there are going to be some rocky times and some tuff decisions made. SK has a 3 year plan that was submitted to the board in case you merkins have forgotten, for me apart from results on field which he will be judged on i think his "structure" he's put in place will put us in good stead leading into 2013 and beyond.
lets not just judge him on the players inept ability to hold the ball and make one on one takles, but look at the overall picture . its going to be a roller coaster season so i think we are a better judge after the end of 2013.
fire away...
you think piss poor coaches should be rewarded with a golden handshake?
They won't if you don't sack them ridiculously early
Me too thinks that.
I have more hope for his outlook however than I did with Anderson.
He may though, let me down. I hope he doesn't. Just like I hoped Anderson, Hagan, Taylor etc ..... didn't.
Suity

so if halfway through this season we have only won 3 games you think a sacking would be going off too early?
Half way through the year is 10-11 rounds away. In that time we have two byes. Given the current form, the injury to key places and the morale of the team, do you really think that we will win 3 out of our next 8-9 games??
so if we only have 1 win by that time and keep dishing up shit you think a sacking would be a stupid idea?
If we have only 1 win in the first ten rounds he shouldn't be sacked but he certainly should be put on notice.
I think the payout is a good thing. Stops itchy trigger fingers pulling the plug too easily.

It's just a good thing that Kearney is a great motivator... I'd hate to have seen the result last night if he wasn't.
If we only have 1 win by that time I'm not sure that sacking the coach would achieve much tbh. Do you think it would suddenly turn our season around?
