Hang on, so if this is correct, Ossy is the knobend and Bob Bentley is actually putting some KPI's in place and not reducing the standard required. Hmmmmmmm.

Everytime I hear academy I think of this porno I use to have- academy for teen chicks so sick in theory, but reality will never happen, which I was the professor in that flick...

Agree, that's the academy we need. I reckon kearneys academy is an old boy scouts hall with just a new spray painted signs, genius!

Wish I still had that porno though, it was an old VHS one, the professor got so lucky, awesome music and story line too!

"Steve has set up a development academy," Spagnolo said. "Our Toyota Cup team now has five players who are 17 years old and they've won two out of three.

So the academy will get the NRL into the eight! We need to be winning NRL matches, it's great the 20's have won 2 matches but NRL is where the focus needs to be.

Setting up an academy does not translate into NRL wins, SK bought players that he wanted for 2012, the squad was supposedly stronger than 2011 yet the performances have been well short of the mark!

We have always had a good junior base.....look at all the Parramatta Juniors playing NRL, the academy is just a fancy title and the Board are having the wool pulled over their eyes!

No one has a choice. Until then we must work with what we have got and who we can buy.
It is pretty bloody obvious how the time-frame works.

Someone would think SK is coaching at the dogs, where they haven't produced decent juniors in years.

We have always produced large numbers of juniors that make it in the nrl. The truth is you can't keep them all.

I didn't think people could be so gullible. Producing players, then calling it an academy....... Hello.

Yes we HAD a good junior base and this is why we have the academy to put in place something we had lost and now we have a plan to identify those up and coming players and maybe stop the likes of Manly and co from grabbing them under our nose.

If you have a large quantity of juniors coming through, it's always hard to stop other teams poaching them. Signing them to long term deals before they make it to nrl doesn't always work out either...... look at the DCE saga at manly.

Realistically, the only way teams can keep their junior players, is if the nrl restructured the salary cap, to allow a team to accommodate more juniors, ie the more juniors you have, the higher your salary cap.

It certainly will stop teams looking past their juniors, and give them a huge incentive to develop them.

Yeah he must've missed the memo.

We had good juniors, Hagan/ Reddy squelched them all in favour of some bloodnut (was his name richardson?!?)

It worked out perfectly.

Because DCE was locked up long term, Manly were never any chance of another club pinching him while they were negotiating his upgrade - they could draw the negotiations out at their leisure, rather than reactively having to match whatever some other club was offering.

Well I think it's harsh to criticise Kearney.

He can't be blamed for the fact thee guys haven't be taught how to defend, attack, pick up the ball off the floor, trust each other, basically have a dig.

Screw Kearney - this is the worst example of a team making a basic effort since the early 90s.
