The Stupid belief Origin is the Pinnacle of League

I'd f**k off half the NRL season, international footy, the whole of super league and anything else before doing that. Origin is the pinnacle of Rugby League.

How can it be the pinnacle of rugby league when the majority aren’t eligible?
This is the exact type of nonsense that is wrong with the game in this country.
The player who received the highest personal accolade in Australian rugby league can’t play so the idea it’s the pinnacle is utter nonsense.

Yeah about that, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck winning best player in 2018 made me think maybe the award process is wrong. He might have been the best in his team but not the best I the league

This is a good point - I would shorten the NRL season before getting rid of Origin as it is Origin that ensures the TV deals run into the billions.

Just because everyone isn't eligible doesn't mean it's not the best, most of the time the individual states alone could beat the rest of the world and most of the time the Daly M is given to someone who is eligible.

It really isn’t though. It doesn’t even involve the best players. It is still the most hyped up games of the year and arguably the most physical but the sport is bigger than two states of Australia.
It does involve the best, those states individually would be able to beat the rest of the world more often then not. I'm a kiwi and even I would admit that. It's time to get real, Origin is the pinnacle and no one really gives a flying f**k about international footy.

How many league fans in the northern hemisphere watch Origin? Sure some do, the vast majority do not. Orion is overhyped and if you’re a kiwi falling for the hype more fool you.

Traditionally origin has been the pinnacle of the game, that is changing in recent times which is great for the game as a whole. Some of the best players getting around are now not eligible for origin. If there were a world cup held this year and NSW & QLD entered instead of the Kangaroos, it would be a pretty even bet between NSW, QLD, NZ & Eng for the title - this has not always been the case. In the past NSW and QLD would have romped it in most of the time. This is good for the game, it is a sign of growth.

Qld beat nsw 11 out of 12 years, over that same period NZ won a World Cup and two four nations.
There are many players who would walk into the origin teams over the last few years who can’t play (burgess, Graham, Taumalolo, Johnson, RTS, Widdop, Foran, luke etc)!

And literally millions have watched the current England v nz series, so yeah, people (including me) do give a f*ck about international rugby league!

Qland maybe but NSW? lol
NZ would win 8/10 and England 7/10 imo against origin sides. Cant wait to see a proper test series against England. they have finally got a competent team together under a decent coach whilst Australia has lost its stars., for now. RLWC final showed how close they are to each other and arguably England are stronger and Australia weaker since then. Not getting too excited as I've been waiting nearly 40 years to see an England series or tournament win but we look our best since the early 90's.

And how many of those origins were separated by the smallest of margins? Even though qld had dominance in wins the games themselves were extremely close. I do agree a lot of those players would walk into the sides and in return even more from those Origin squads would walk into international teams.

It's the best vs the best. Origin is the pinnacle of the game bar none.

No it doesn't. Australia is the best nation on the planet for rugby league, honestly most Aussies don't even care about international footy cause Origin is the highest stage. It's pretty common to see Aussies cheering on the kiwis or the poms against Australia just to make the game more exciting.

Australians don’t care for international league. Therefore origin is the pinacle.....

Its not the best vs the best though, some of the best aren’t eligible as we already discussed. Please try to keep up.

The two states themselves could beat the rest of the world, hence it is the best vs the best. Individually the players in those positions may not be the best but this a team sport. Please somehow find a way out to mentally process this.

Australia is the greatest country in the world to play rugby league, what they choose to invest in counts a great deal when it comes to the game of rugby league, the fact they show little interest in the international scene shows really what the international scene is.

New Zealand just beat the Kangaroos. England’s last game against them was very close, how does this equate to the states could beat the world? It’s a total nonsensical argument. Just like saying it’s the best vs the best even if the best aren’t actually playing.

ARL is helping the international game. They let us kiwis have a team in the NRL and are even contemplating a second one and thats just a small example. They may not be sending the Kangaroos out to play as often but they help in other ways. They dont HAVE to, but they do.
