Ah the old "I can't give you facts or figures, you'll just have to trust me" line. Good one Steve Crawley, I'm sure that will persuade the commission to listen to you.

I'm sure golden try or 5 minutes each way would be just as exciting for the tv audience.

Not for me. It has to be golden point. I doubt Oztam would fudge their own ratings.

My concern with the above article is the lack of mention of Ten & Seven

Why is Nine in a position to dictate what they want? I know since the ARLC came in there seems to be alot of guesswork in articles (Gallop leaked like a btch)..... But that is concerning if true...

As a Sharks fan this scheduling issue affects me more than most. Not knowing until 5 weeks out (3 weeks if the last 2 rounds are anything to go by) leaves us paying 3 times the amount that Essendon and Collingwood fans paid to come to Sydney.

This affects crowds etc... Not happy....

And a billion? Nothing wrong with that.... +NZ and Internet, they were only referring to the Aus TV component....

The schedule needs to be fixed before the start of the season, at least for the first 20 rounds or so...

Funny how the amount adds up to a billion exactly...

Thing is you can still have flexible scheduling with a fixed schedule. You just group the games on a Sunday, but don't say which is the TV game, and on Friday nights you always can have 2 games to pick which is shown live, and which isn't.

I do think more flexibility in the last 4 rounds is required, and crowds have shown previously to appear in these rounds even when it's unknown when the games will be played.

Fixed scheduling will see all teams support grow.

This would be an improvement, but if they bring in Sunday night games I think you would need to know in advance if your team is playing Sunday night...

If the Monday night schedule is announced at the start of the year, then at least there would have to be an even spread of games around all the teams..

I don't agree with that. You would just have to take this into account if your booking accommodation and the like for a Sunday game. It's not like if you find out the game is at 2pm, that you wouldn't be able to kill time by watching the Sunday night game from wherever is convenient (ie airport bar).

He is probably quoting the yearly rate, rather than a 5 year deal and hasn't realised how stupid he is.

If he was right, it would put us at $875 mil which is still a big improvement from where we are now, but I am still hoping we get more.

EDIT: Who is he anyway? Why should we care what he thinks? Seems to be some guy who runs an adventure holiday program.

Channel 9 still f**k up a flexible schedule with the same teams or dead rubbers when the same teams dont play.

Why is it so much more valuable than fixed when they can't pick the best games anyway.

Are they f**king up a flexible schedule now? We've just been through the part of the season where they had to call which would be good games 10-12 weeks out. It's no wonder we get a few duds around this time of year. If anything it's an argument in favour of a much shorter flexible schedule.

Fixed scheduling with flexibility requires all game days to have multiple matches to swap around and all game days to have at least one free to air broadcast slot. Multiple matches isn't going to happen for Monday nights so fixed scheduling will likely devalue the rights fee for Monday nights. As free to air content it could make it cheap fodder for Ten's secondary digital channel, One.

After tonights effort the rights should be removed. Gus going on and on and on and f**king on about Ashford and his tap re start.
Rabs wanting to give 2 points to each team after a draw.

I heard that as well. Those two are f**king pathetic.

What about Friggin Rabs going on about the crowd and saying the people south of the border would laugh at 29,000, but it's good by Sydney standards.

Rabs and Gould think they're a comedy act.

This f**king network has to lose the rights.

Not to mention that what Aysheford did is probably the most efficient way of tapping the ball when you're running for the restart. You dont lose any momentum like you do when you have to tap it normally. But according to Rabs, its the youth of today.

And Vautin, I couldn't believe they were rambling about his US holiday 30 seconds into the game. Are they there to call the game or talk about themselves?

It seems to be the way with a lot of rugby league media people. Anything is more important than the actual game.

Hadley's woeful, but so is Vautin.

At least Wally stepped to the mark and gave us a "dictating terms" in the second half.

Melbourne were dictating terms with their defence according to the King. lol Love your work Wall!

Rabs and Gus just don't mix, they never have. Gus and Vossy go ok and Rabs with Sterlo are good but Rabs and Gus is so grating.

Hadley is grating as well, bringing up decisions 30 minutes after they occured ffs.

It's funny seeing some of the classic matches on fox from the early 90s and there is rabs , sterlo and vautin.

Ffs it's been 20 years already , time to freshen up rugby league broadcasting.

It really doesn't just need a whole new station , it needs new everyone.
