for lees money
for less money yes.
A shitload of more money invested into grassfooty will do more for rugby league than anything hd or live games could dream of. If you were a true rugby league fan instead of sounding like a selfish and whinging television viewer, you would be celebrating the massive future rugby league has ahead of it. I know I am
After today, i have no faith in this commission investing into grass roots footy. They got their pay day, they are patting themselves over the back that we have to stay in this shitty situation, while idiots think they will reinvest back into the game.
Wont happen. Football clubs will start whinging wheres my cut. Football stars will want more money. None of the money will go back into the health of the game because what was delivered was more of the same. Nothing new. Nothing inspiring of change.
This isnt going to make the NRL stop charging overpriced tickets at games. This wont make our memberships less expensive.
This wont make NRL a more family oriented event on the weekend.
We have been sold a lie for more money.
Celebrate the false dawn all you like, have a go at me for sounding selfish, im the one here advocating that we should have taken less money for something good for the game, ill still be here laughing at you all for believe the fallacy we were dished up.
And how much would you like 10 to pay over the next 5 years to provide this?
I dont care about money. The money wont go to where the average person wants it anyways. But i would have accepted around 850.

The Contra part of the deal is what appeals to the casual fan.

How many of you have watched 7mate and been bombarded by GWs and swans adds. The same will happen with channel 9 there will more information about match days and who is playing.

This will inturn grow audiences and awareness of games, both live at the ground and on television.
Does this include the stories that A Current Affair show every couple of months that seem to revel in kicking rugby league in the gonads?

Those stories are great for public awareness...

Also Gyngell stated that they have retained their Sunday afternoon game. He never said it would not be live and he never said it would absolutely be at 4pm. He said whether or not it is delayed or live and whther it is at 4 or earlier is something they have to discuss with the NRL. Only guaranteed that there will only be 1 Friday night game live and one delayed. FMD look at the bigger picture people, we are free, we have money, we have smart people in place to use that money wisely with noone to hold rl for ransom. People want to complain about no HD or only one live game on Friday instead of 2? Hindisght is a beautiful thing but foresight is the crux and the ARLC has plenty of foresight. Thank god some of you whinging merkins are not running this game.

As a Storm fan - I am not sure the problem with the deal that others are complaining about. It is my understanding that Grant said that as part of the deal is national coverage (obviously flexing to Gem). The centrality of the 'main station' will quickly decline as people get used of the broader options.

Is the Sunday 9 game confirmed it'll be broadcast on Gem in Melbourne? I only ask as it's currently not.

Nine's commentary and general coverage has been so dreadful this year that I honestly thought it was out of spite at the realisation that they had lost the rights.

Now we find out we have another FIVE YEARS of it.

I lurve listening to those knockabout blokes. Boozed up snow lovers from weigh back

i wouldnt be shocked if some of you would be happy if the deal was worth 2 billion but the only place you could see the game on TV was from Gyngellls house.

It says that foxtel acquired the iptv and tablet rights to its five games - isn't that the majority of the internet rights? Surely rights to watch on mobile phones can't be too significant?

Anyway, fantastic dollars. Fantastic that $90 mill is coming before the start of the season too, it means the money can be mobilised very quickly. Watch out AFL merkins
