Look at the side Muzza in the centres is the biggest surprise.

Kativerata 100 kg
Vaealiki 100 kg
Grothe 100kg
Wagon 97kg
and Lyon 96kg

Gives the Eels 5 of the 8 backs named being around 100 kg.

Forward pack is what I would expect.

Thanks Hurri.

I like it. I like it a lot. And I think I know why:

Lyon/Kativerata is a great strong combo, to stop Williams and co.

And Grothe/Muzza is strong as well.

Our backs combine speed, strength, agility and aggression. I LIKE!

Perhaps my only beef is we do not have another playmaker on the bench. Having said that though, we do have Hopkins at lock who can create something.

Lyon could also be given a roving commison (sorry but I had to use it) he is a very creative player so you might see a simlar case to when Campbell was named on the wing for the Sharks but played more like a 2nd halfback.

I dont think we will run out as per program, Smithy will most likely Rotate a few positions by kick off i think Freshy will be starting, Peterson to the wing and Kativerata on the bench. Fowards are pretty much what i expected except for Stapleton. Still not too sure how we will go this weekend but it will be won in the halves if Wags and Dykesy choke we choke

A couple of things:

Where's Chris Armit :? ?????

How come Vaeliki's on the bench, and Side Show Bob is in the centres?

My other problem is that there is no playmaker coming off the bench. Hopkins is a good utility player, but then you've only got Morris and Dykes as kickers.

I dont know how many times Ive said this, but the combination of Wagon/Dykes just wont work!!!.

1) Armit is in the 2nd row in reggies
2) So Wise can play on the wing (not sure the answer to that)
3) See my previous post bout Lyon

My first question is where did Peter Ellis, Jim Curtis and John McKie come from?

Given Smith changes his side during the week I have my doubts whether the team that is named will be that which takes the field. That being said I think anyone on the board could have come up with that anyways.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Widders, Pai or Witt brought up into the side - given the size of the Premmies bench.

I agree with MPE, I don't think this team willl run out as programmed.
I don't get Vaeliki coming from the bench. Unless the plan is leave wags on for 20, interchange him with DV on and move lyon to 5/8th?

I Wonder if Smith is thinking with Tonga in the Centres, that peterson will be ok to match him there.

Is there a chance that Freshy will start at lock, and Hopkins come on to take over from Morris at some stage?

Also note it woudlnt take much for Morris to move to 5/8, wagon to lock and Hopkins to hooker.

having said that, i am more than happy with this 17. :D

First divvie - number 11.

Funny that selection. I wouldve had him in the side, he's been playing well in the trials, and was playing well in first grade last year. I would have him over Stapleton.
