A number of family and friends are trying to talk me into going on a cruise. I wouldn't mind it but I think they're trying to persuade me to go with them. If I am going to go on one it'll be one of those singles ones.

And the aussie accent thing overseas is real........my luck being a taken man

Depends on where you go to.

My family is doing the same, there's like 20 of us so it will be like Mini-Lebanon aboard the ship.

Jetting off to Thailand in a few days time.

3-5 days in the Phuket area (specifically, Karon Beach) before we head to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao (for scuba certification for the missues). Then a day or two in Bangkok, a week in Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai, and finishing it up with Siem Riep and Pnomh Penh. Can't wait!

Any last minute tips?

Happy pizzas in siem riep or phomh penh, or both. Extra happy. The killing fields are a must see but sad. If you are game try the fried spiders, they are massive. About 10 cents each. The main dish there is a steamed fish curry all the amok I think, it's not bad but their food is nothing compared to Thai IMO. Although I love Cambodia, I am going to take my kids there in a few years when they can appreciate it.

Also in some of the tour books they say you need 3 days for the temples. f**k that. I just went to the main ones over the space of a day, that was enough.

As for Thailand. If you are into ladyboys with big dongs, speak to Kia Ora, he knows where to go.

Not sure we'll spend long in Bangkok. Probably only a day or two unless the missus falls in love with the place. Or a lady boy.

I am ridiculously arachnophobic, but I also like a challenge. I might just give 'em a try. How do they taste?

Taste is fine, they are fried in salt and or garlic, can't recall exactly. It's the mental side, that's makes it hard as you know it's a spider. Their abdomen is all gooey. You get them from a little place between siem riep and phnom penh. Closer to phnom penh. Google it, I can't think of the name but any go there just for that.

Bangers is great but you either love it or hate. Hire a long tail boat and go on tour around the river and canals. Check out the red light areas. We liked Soi Cowboy, we had a night out there at a girly bar that had a live rock band, sat outside watched the world go by and had a great night with the girls. I wasnt hassled as my wife was there, they just chatted with us all night. Me and my mates on another trip paid the tuk tuk drivers heaps of money to race and do wheelies. That was fun at 3am off our heads. They loved us as we tipped our 2 drivers around $40 aus each. Got great video footage of my mate hanging out the back on the drivers advice to help get the front wheel higher, he nearly fell out. In hindsight not the best idea.

I was not fussed with Bangers...lots to do and definitely do a a boat on the rivers and canals as it is very eye opening to see how they live.

The cab drivers and tuk tuk drivers are conmen and rip off merchants but you get that anywhere.

My advice..go with the flow and embrace the city and all it has to offer.

Yeah they are dodgy. Whenever I get in I make sure they understand I dont want a tailor, restaurant etc otherwise I will just get out. Generally I catch around the Sky Train as its quick and easy. I only use taxis and tuk tuks after a night out.
