Back in Auckland now after living in Toronto for a year. Big 5 week road trip on the way home which included NYC, Boston, Nashville, New Orleans, Memphis, Dallas, Denver, Vancouver, Rocky mountains in BC and Seattle.

My wife and I are heading over to Fiji for a week in December. Just a tropical escape for a week. Found a package for flights, accommodation, meals and drinks.

Just wondering if anyone has some advice for us for when we are over there? What to see, what to avoid, what to look out for, etc. Any help would be great.

I loved Fiji. I just island hopped between cheap backpacker resorts, so I couldn't suggest any touristy stuff to do. Just enjoy the Fiji time, drink some ice cold Vonu, and get out and scuba dive on the Yasawas if time allows.

Nice man. I've only been to two of those places (NYC and Seattle) and only for a combined two days :-o

1 December heading to the Pacific Islands for a cruise with the Radiance of the Seas.

Any advice on how to maximise fun and minimise expenses - eg alcohol on board, and entertainment otherwise?

Pacific Islands are on the to do list, and the sub-continent. After that, whatever. Will probably try and avoid "western" countries though.

Went to LA. Met Mark Henry. Watched the best WWE PPV of the past few years. Had a Vodka and Soda with Dolph Ziggler after Mick Foley's standup. Went on roller coasters. Watched the Chargers get flogged by the 49ers. Bought a stack of Dragonball Z shirts, and a power rangers hoody. Ate 3 mcChickens and a Super Size doctor pepper for 5 bucks. Got Tacos, because tacos are everywhere. Bought 350 dollars worth of books. Got drunk at Universal Studios, then drank some fosters. Waited at the airport forever. Laughed at the brisbane chumps whose flight was delayed 12 hours. Got home, i put on 10 kilos. Lost 6 over night. Now i am several thousand dollars in debt.

Was awesome.

Went on a one week cruise for my honeymoon couple of years ago to Vanuatu (and some surrounding islands). Awesome experience. There's a ton of stuff to do without spending money, the best thing to do is plan it out.

If you're a big alcohol or coffee drinker then good luck keeping expenses down.

I've been to Brisbane a fair few times, the Sunshine Coast and Sydney once when I was a kid.

I just had a trip to Hong Kong and Macau.

Loved it and won in Macau which ended up paying for the trip.

Man, I wish I'd had the chance to try the food when I was in HK. My flight was cancelled so they put me up for a night, but the only thing open was McDonalds :?
