Hi Rabbits20,

I am going to share with you some very personal details about my life and my family.

I was raised in a Pentecostal Christian household where Church and associated activities dominated the first 15 years of my life. Over those years, we spent approximately 20 hours a week engaged in Church activities, Church Services, Bible Study, Prayer Group, Youth Group etc. There was no day of the week that was not focussed around Church.

I have two younger brothers. Both of them are gay. Neither of them were able to acknowledge this until their twenties due to the pressure and expectations they felt. One of them was in fact a youth pastor and once preached to 40,000+ people at a Hillsong Convention at Olympic Stadium.

As you can imagine, accepting and coming to terms with who they are as people was extremely difficult for both my brothers. Coming out to not only their family, but also their friends was something that was obviously extremely confronting. I know that at least one of them considered suicide as a viable option to owning who they were.

I love both my brothers unreservedly. I have so much respect for the many challenges they have overcome to become the inspirational men that they are today. I do not know how I would have responded to the many and varied obstacles they have faced. But if I did it half as well as them, I would be very surprised.

I am 100% sure neither of them are paedophiles.

Last year someone on here posted this:

"I pray for all the defenseless children with no say at all living queerly in a homosexual household how insane is that?? i thank god that i had a mother and a father up bringing, Sadly for a baby/child to be brought up by 2 gay men or by 2 gay woman is utterly utterly utterly sickening to say the least and goes against the normality of humanity of mankind its just criminal. At least russia has it right BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO Mr Vladamir Putin is against gay marriage and has outlawed it in Russia WOW what a stand up guy he is BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO TAKE A BOW SIR F A C T...Shadow... "

And this:

"I dont care if gays get married but its not a normal marriage if you think 2 gays vs mum and dad are equal in marriage as a family unit seek help ASAP...

My only point is that gays should never ever be nowhere near a baby or near a young child or near a teenager, gays are sexual predators and should never be near children whom sadly cant speak out for themselves SHAME ON YOU THE GOVERNMENTS FOR PASSING THIS UTTERLY SICKENING ACT UPON OUR DEFENSELESS LITTLE ONES YOUR AS SICK AS THE GAYS ....

Tell me what baby at birth or a young adopted child would want to live in a gay household?? If they could only speak out they would definitely prefer a mother and a father thats only natural the woman gives birth...

And lastly the gay marriage vote will sadly win i predict all i can say is GOD HELP THE LITTLE CHILDREN ""AMEN""...Shadow... "

You liked both posts, and quoted the second one. You led off with "Bravo, Bravo....."

I doubt that you have ever met either of my brothers, but as I have stated elsewhere they are both exceptional human beings. For you to condemn them as paedophiles, solely based on the fact that they were born gay, makes me want to despise you. I am hoping we can change this.

To be clear, unlike others I have no issue with someone like Israel Folau saying that all gay people will go to hell. Me and my brothers were all taught this growing up. As traumatic as it was for them to reconcile their own Homosexuality with this belief, I respect the right of people to have their own religious beliefs and share them with others. I am even aware that in some religions you may be taught that you have an obligation to share your beliefs, as Israel has done.

I have read the Bible more than once, and in different versions. Most versions clearly state or imply that all gay people will go to hell. I have been yet to come across a verse that says all gay people are paedophiles. If you have such a link please share.

It is hard to explain the emotions that I feel when you endorse the sentiment that both my brothers are paedophiles. Perhaps the best way would be to give you an example that you can relate to.

I have seen you talk fondly of your father and sister on this site.

Imagine if one of the Tigers, Roosters or Dragons fans on here that you despise, posted that your father and sister were paedophiles. Imagine again that I not only liked their posts, but also applauded them by responding with "Bravo, Bravo", even though I have never met either of them.

How you would feel if I did that, is how I feel towards you at the moment.

Anyway my question is : Do you stand by your previous assertion that both my brothers (and numerous friends) are paedophiles?

Please do not see this as an attack, I am trying to find a way to treat you with respect, and I hope this can help you understand why I presently have none for you.

Cheers Stan.

Evening mate and thanks for your message. I'm willing to give things a go and I don't hold grudges. I am very sorry that I said something that upset you. I've had a lot happening in general this past year so I can only remember last year briefly!! Last year was quite a negative year for me in many ways so I'm sorry if I spilt thatonto you on here!

I hope we can work this out. I'm not perfect at all and I've tried clearing the air with a few on here but to them it's like they are perfect and it's all my fault!

I don't know what I said now that was so vicious..............??

I've had vicious things said to me too on here that are making me consider whether I stay or leave these forums... I have to worry about my wellbeing... just like yourself too..
I hope you do not leave.

I love your passion for the Mighty Rabbitohs.

I just think that sometimes you need to be more aware of how hurtful some of the things you say to others are.

Sometimes you seem to be very quick to assume that something is an attack or bullying on you. But from an outsiders point of view you can say the same or worse to others, and you have no problem with this.

Personally, I try to put myself in the other persons shoes and imagine how I would feel if someone said that to me.

I know it sounds tacky, but it seems to work for me.

Anyway, I hope we can resolve this and become friends. I love the Mighty Rabbitohs just as much as you, as do our fellow forum posters.

Cheers Stan.

Thanks for opening up Stan. Well where do I start mate this isn't easy for me!

I have stuffed up big time and I didn't realise... I think back last year I was liking those posts without reading them all properly tbh.

No mate I do not believe most gays are paedophiles....they'd only be a small few out there but that's the case even for guys that are straight.

I have upmost respect for what your brothers have gone through.... if that was me I don't think I could've done it. I can't imagine how difficult that would've been for them and for you....

I'm really very sorry I overlooked all this mate... I was insensitive and I apologise unreservedly.

I hope we can move past all this now.

I do respect gay people but it doesn't mean I'm a fan of them...

I'll open up a bit mate to you now.

I've grown up in the Anglican Church mate and my Mum's Father was a pastor when she was growing up. Anyhow Mum's cousin realised she was a lesbian and now my Mum and her do not really speak. I don't know too much but she is now married to another lady and they are bringing up this girl and the poor girl is so confused....

I will say a prayer now for your family and brothers mate....

I please ask for your forgiveness too!! There isn't an excuse for me not thinking about my actions in that scenario on such a touchy subject on a footy forum I should've known better!

I hope we can both move past this mate even if it takes time.

I'm feeling terrible right now....

I'll try my best to take this on board.

A few on here who think they're perfect too maybe need to have a bit of a think...

It takes more than one person trying to improve to make this place better! Can't just all be put onto me...

I'm glad we can hopefully make that step mate!!

I'm actually very glad you pulled me up on this mate..... I'm sorry for the hurt I caused you mate!! No excuses..

Before I step down from my soapbox, I would like to say this.

Whilst I was heartened to see a couple of posters call out this hate speech last year (I can't recall everyone so I won't name names). The silence from most of you was deafening.

I was always taught that the standard you walk by is the standard you accept, and also that you should call out your friends when they are out of line, just as you would your enemies.

I am very lucky in my life, to have friends that call me out when I am wrong. It has happened many times in my life, and has enabled me to grow as a person. The end result of this is that they don't call me out as often as they used to. This is good as I believe I am becoming a better person. I would not want friends that ignore my transgressions.

I would love to think that this forum can be a place for all Rabbitoh's fans to come to and enjoy, regardless of gender, religion or sexual preference.

The fact that so many seemed to be OK with this hate speech surprised me. It is one of the reasons I have not been on here as much as I would have liked.

I can only imagine how confronting it would have been for a young homosexual Souths fan who was thinking of signing up. To see a blind eye turned to posts like this and then also see members sticking up for said posters when they perceived they were being bullied, would be extremely off-putting I imagine.

Once again, I will say as I realise there are many on here with religious views that all homosexuals will go to hell. Whilst I may disagree with this view, I respect your right to have it as part of your religious beliefs.

This is a whole different ballpark to claiming that all homosexuals are paedophiles. As far as I'm aware no religion teaches this.

Anyway, that's my two cents worth. Respond as you will.

Cheers Stan.

Not trolling here either, but genuinely curious about how you've reached this conclusion. Spoken to the girl? Her parents? How is she confused?

Really looking forward to hearing how you've reached this opinion.

Thank you for calling him on his bullshit, but he kisses your ass shamelessly mate.

That's not a knock on you in any way.

Seriously, how often does he tag you to ask a question, then respond to with something along the lines of, "Oh Callmack you're so right  That's such a good point  Awesome post "

Then two days later tag you into an argument he's started when he isn't getting his own way.

He kisses your ass, then tries to use you to save him when he acts like a jackass
I'm sorry, but I really don't see how that is sucking up to me. We are just good mates on here and there is a lot to be discussed.

Also Stan, thatnks for sharing your story, that is quite inspirational tbh. I'm sorry sorry that you felt that way earlier in the year, I can't really remember how I reacted to the situation (I know I 100% did not agree with some comments made though) but if I did upset due to a non responce then I apologise. Again though, I can't really remember what I did in this situation.

Can we just stop all this arguing though guys? We should be arguing about our wonderful team this year rather than taunting each other which can be hurtful.

I'll admit, R20 does say the wrong thing sometimes and he does make some mistakes in the way he handles some situations on here, but we are all human and all make mistakes. He never means to hurt anyone, he is just a very passionate guy that loves his footy.

However, there are some posters on here that are constantly hounding him. I'd have no issue if people were getting called out when they are wrong but just about every post that he makes, there is some smart or degrading comment that is completely unwarranted.

Look, I respect everyone on here and I get along with pretty much everyone but I've just had enough of all this carry on from both of you.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you both need to just drop it, possibly ignore each other and move on. I love chatting with the both of you when you're not bickering so ler's keep it that way aye?

He verbally blows you, then expects you to fight his battles mate.

If you don't see it that's fine, but everyone else does

Fighting his battles because he sucks up to you.

No one goes out of their way to hound him. He either picks fights, then calls for you when he can't win them or he sulks like a child when people disagree with him.

If he acts childishly, he won't be respected.

If he acts like an adult, he will.

Pretty simple shit.

If he wants me to leave him alone, he only needs to do three things

1-Acknowledge when he makes a mistake. Like an adult would

2-Stop sulking and crying foul when people disagree with him or point out his errors

And
3- Stop sulking like a spoiled brat when he doesn't get his own way

Which are the rules I judge every adult by.

Until then, I'll continue to point out when I disagree with him or when he's factually incorrect because that's how a discussion works.

He doesn't get special treatment just because he sulks when he doesn't
