we could even take things a step further and name some other parts of the stadium after ex-players

eg. The Jamie Lyon Toilet

Dennis Fitzgerald is a director of the stadium trust, he should of been there on that capacity alone.

poor form.
in some respects yes he should've been there but i can see his point of view and i agree with him. that is a big wad of cash and could've been better spent than to maintain a childish ego of a former player. i don't care how good the player was or who they played for i think it was a massive over-reaction to the situation and the whims of a person that has gone out of his way to bag the club at every opportunity i can remember.

though just my opinion.

yep..more than happy with the idea of naming the East and West Terraces and infact if they compensated the re-naming of the Price lounge to the the Price terrace I would of been more than happy and a statue wouldn't of been necessary.

when hindy retires we could maybe close off a section of the pavement or carpark with a massive crack in it and name it after hindy.

Better still they should open an Irish pub on the 3rd floor and call it Craic (pronounced "crack" which means fun in irish). :D Hindmarsh is an old Irish name.

doug walters went to the cricket the other day. He was happy as larry too. was serving in the bar that was named in his honour. proud as punch he was, even considering he used to have a stand named after him and now it is just a lowly bar. took it on the chin like a man he did.

Doug Walters doesn't think that cricket owes him anything, that's the difference.

I'll add to your Hypothetical, Stagger.

So instead of erecting a statue, the stadium trust publicizes that they are renaming a box in tribute temporarily to Ray Price, then announce that the proposed Southern Stand is to be named the Ray Price Stand? would that have eased your concerns about the recognition of the player?

It would have put the Blow torch back on the Federal Government and the Community of Parramatta to stump up with their $6 Million each to get it finished, the fans would be in favor would they not?

BTW the Bar for the Cronin Stand (the one with the Parramatta Stadium Sticker across the Windows) is called the Bob O'Reilly Bar.

In the scheme of issues and importance facing government, that's more like a candle than a blowtorch.

I've always said for the stand, the heat should be placed on the state to stump up the rest of the cash. Afterall, they promised the stand, not the Federal Government (who were the Federal Opposition at the time).

What a great tribute to a great man. Can anyone shed any light on why no current players attended the ceremony??

I remember a short-lived (for obivious reasons) billboard in New York.

"Come to Ireland. The Craic's Great"
