So....if you want to win premierships you want Cronk in your team.

Yet the storm have only won one since he's been there.

Seems reasonable.

I rate sterlo, but if I'm selecting a team of the players that I've seen, Cronk is the first picked.

I think the mark of a truly great half is that they make the ordinary players around them look good. Cronk has done this for years.

If you want to win premierships, you want Cooper Cronk in your team.
Cronk over A JOHNS (you did see him play didn't you?), if so that'll do me.

Hey, no question that Cronk is a damn fine half, but to say he's better than Sterlo because of the number of premierships he has is just not true.

I was watching an old Origin game on Fox before I left for work.

Sterlo was a magnificent 1/2, positional play, organisational skills, kicking game, passing, defence. The best of his era IMO. JT & Joey are the only 1/2's that I think were better, I'd even have sterlo over Alf.

The arguments above are absolutely rebuttals of my post, and I stand corrected. This one is not.

Cronk got his team closer to a premiership that year than 14 other starting halfbacks managed for their team.

Pffft. Jason Taylor did that in 2001.

Cooper Cronk is a very very good halfback.

Sterlo was a genius who led his team to a 3peat; and he should be an Immortal.

How is this even a debate?

Would be like comparing Kieran Foran to Laurie Daley or Brad Fittler.

There's very good - great even - and then there's legend status.

Shane Perry got Brisbane a premiership, as did Ben Hornby with the drags. Cronk, shoulda coulda woulda.

Melbourne Storm with their current roster & all rosters since their inception are the epitome of "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

The cynics might argue that's what Smith and Slater have done for Cronk.

Johns and Thurston are the only two I'd rate above Sterlo - and imo with Thurston there's not much in it

One of the things I always liked about you Pops is you never cared about "likes". But you seem to be a bit fixated on them at the moment.
You can collect them pretty easily in game day threads by whinging about the refs. I guarantee I could collect 20 on state of origin night. They don't mean much. They make you feel good for a while then cheap and dirty afterwards.
