Yes I'm biased.
But f*ck me dead are you going to start a thread for every piece of diving or what you would call unsportsmanlike play?
Yes he made a meal of it, but so what. Puyol did cut across him and take his path. The contact was enough to send him to the ground and from footage I saw there is no way you can clearly say his head didn't come into contact with Puyols shoulder. Not his face, but still his head.
Lets not lose sight of the fact that today would have also been personal for him. That d*ckhead Aragones is nothing but a racist and his comments about Henry were disgraceful. Henry would have been win at all costs today to shove it down that clowns throat. Right or wrong that's how it was today.
But singleing him out for his own thread on that incident??? You sir are a clown!
Wake the f*ck up!

Theatrics is a part of [world] soccer and EVERY team does it. Some get away with it, some are caught by the short and curlys.
Build a bridge.
aqua_duck said:I see Macca is going all defensive because it is Thierry Henry. Seriously it was mone of the worst acts of sportsmanship I've ever seen, most players dive to get a free kick or whatever, Henry clearly dived with the intention of getting puyol sent off.
I'm even amazed most of the pommy pundits thought puyol deserved the yellow because henry ran into him and clearly 'simulated' and thats a yellow card alot of the time.
Henry is a woman I guess according to his own very words.
yeah Henry ran into Puyol's back with his shoulder and then went down clutching his face, yet Macca can still find some way to defend it.chili pepper said:Henry, in fact, committed the foul by charging into Puyol.
I'm guessing Macca is an Arsenal fan?

I have no problem what so ever about the fact it's a forum.chili pepper said:Its a forum and everyone has a right to give their opinion. Just because it isn't the same as some of the more frequent posters in this forum should not matter.
Seems they are the ones that need to build a bridge to me!
Macca_ said:I have no problem what so ever about the fact it's a forum.
The problem I have is that there is a thread on one particular player when we see this kind of stuff in the game all the time. Yet because it is Henry who seems to have his ditractors, we have plenty of toss pots wanting to put the boot in.
2 wrongs don't make a right, but I didn't see a 'Puyol the pussy' thread when he went down clutching his face claiming he'd been elbowed by Henry in the Champions League Final. Arm never touched face at all.
So when every player that goes down easy, takes a dive, fakes injury etc etc has their own 'puusy' thread made about them all will be fine. Lets not leave it to a select few to have these threads.
Until that happens, once again, build a bridge!
Macca_ said:Be interested to see if NPK has watched the Argentina vs Germany first half. Surely we'll have some 'pussy' threads on the way. Especially in the case of Podolski.
Then again, Henry is the only player in world football to do such a thing, so it probably does justify this thread and means we won't see any other players get their own :sarcasm:
I suppose I should add that my original defensive was after only viewing it once during the game. And in the heat of the moment a thread like this seemed pathetic at best. Having seen it again, he made a meal of it that's for sure.
In saying that, the thread is still pathetic given the fact it goes on all the time. I mean, why wasn't there any of these 'pussy' threads after the Australian vs Italy match?
It's simple. Henry is not Italian. Nor is he Argentinian or German.
Agree.chili pepper said:I have no gripe with Henry. Super talented player who doesn't need to resort to that crap.
Don't agree. The 2 incidents were very much the same and both players were invloved so it is relevant.chili pepper said:This is a world cup forum - champions league incidents are irrelevant here
Disagree again. It helped yes, but it's no different to any other player who has tried to win a free kick by tricking the referee. Spain still had the opportunity to defend the set piece, the ball didn't go directly in the goal from the foul... End of the day, France were the better side anyway.chili pepper said:But this decision won the game for France so it is very significant
I will. Once every piece of unsporting behaviour earns it's own 'pussy' threadchili pepper said:Build a bridge

I don't care what the ref does. I'm talking about the fact there was no such thread back then like this one.chili pepper said:Ancient history. Henrys effort only is relevant for THIS tournament. Cant expect refs to make decisions based on past games
How far do we go back? Lets say that the free kick before shouldn't have been given. If it wasn't the ball doesn't go to this player who doesn't pass it to that player etc etc etc. We can go back to the opening whistle if we want... Also maybe if it wasn't given, France may have won 4-1, but lets not keep speculating on what would have happened. As I said, Spain still had the chance to defend a set piece.chili pepper said:No foul given - no goal and game on.

I don't care about the fact we are talking about THIS tournament either. It happens all the time and no threads like this happen. And in saying that, in THIS tournament there has been a number of other instances that could warrant this kind of thread. Once again though, they weren't Henry.

No, you said that decision won the game for France.chili pepper said:But this 1 lead to a goal - thats the differnce. And Spain should never have had to defend that set piece.
