No, you said that decision won the game for France.

I merely said that it didn't and that Spain still had the chance to defend the set piece. Obviously it 'lead' to a goal being scored, but it wasn't the sole reason for the game going the way of France.

Can specualte all we want, facts are that France won 3-1 and Henry is the only player in the world to ever con a referee.

Well it certainly went a long way to winning it for them. of course Henry is not the only player to take a dive but his was a particularly bad one.

At the end of the day France did deserve to win on the balance. But Spain (or anyone for that matter) did not deserve to go out that way.

True point about speculation - but Spain may have bagged 3 quick goals themselves if the correct decision had of been made.

I dont really care now. Neither team was very impressive and its history now.

My point is simply that it WAS a disgraceful decision by the ref and a particularly bad dive by Henry. Hey - but he's laughing now - just like Grosso!

Rodriguez anyone? NPK, you watching?

Thought not.
rodriguez never went down clutching his face when there was no contact with it, there was slight contact with his legs and he made the most of it, nothing like henry's oscar performance.

There's no different levels of simulation.

It's all designed to con the referee into giving a free kick.

I'd have expected that from Italians or Harry Kewell, but not Thierry Henry. That's disappointing imo

now macca I respect your opinions and knowledge but your Thierry henry facinationj has blinded you. What maxi did was trying to make the most of very little, henry tried to get an opponent sent off for absolutely nothing, that is the lowest thing you can do, and honestly if it were anyone who didn't play for arsenal you wouldn't be so bias

Mate I can't agree. How can you say for 100% that he was trying to get the guy sent off? You can't. He went down trying to win a free kick. Not to mention that the referee deemed it a foul and gave a yellow anyway (not a red).

And that has anything to do with what?

Whilst you're back in here, did you happen to watch the England/Portugal game?

Now there's a game that provided half a dozen chances for threads like this. Surely.... And that's not if we include violent conduct as unsporting like and also pleading with a referee to have an opponent sent off. Both having a level of pussynismn about them. Alas, Henry is not a pom or portugese.

Actually I've just been reading some emails from a mailing list I'm on (Arsenal) re the England/Portugal game.

Some very funny stuff coming through

And I'm very much looking forward to the next 'pussy' thread with regards to one player in particular.

NPK, humour me... What team do you support (club)?

when you clutch your face like he did there's little doubt in my mind what he was trying to do, he tried to make it that he got struck in the face which=red card

Doesn't matter what kind of simulation it is, first and foremost it is to win a free kick. It's not done with the intent to have a guy sent off. Sure the actions may result in a yellow/red, but it's the free kick that is being played for. Ok, we're not going to agree so I'll move on.

Watching closely this morning, there was a number of times where Henry could have did a similar thing. ie go to ground for very little and clutch at his face etc etc. A number of times where he could, he stayed on his feet and tried to make something happen.

Now this brings me back to an original comment I made. Wether you agree or not, it is really what I believe. And wether it's wrong or right, it is still what I believe.

2 wrongs don't make a right. But I still think that it was win at all costs for Henry on a personal basis for him, to gain some revenge on Aragones and his racist insult towards him. Taken out of context or not, Aragones still made the comment and in this day and age you simply can't do it. I really think Henry was motivated in such a way for this match that he was up to cheating I guess to do it.

There was one particular instance in the first half this morning that I made a mental note of. Henry tried to go down the sideline and the Brazilian cut in front of him. Instead of going down, he tried to shrug of the knock and keep going after the ball. A similar situation to the Puyol one. I dunno, may look like clutching at straws, but if someones p*ssed me off enough, it can make you do some 'strange' things.

Anyways, nice volley from him this morning to put Brazil out. Was a good game too.

I think we'll just agree to disagree on this one mate. Though nice goal this morning though.
