Plus we don't really have much to compare with. Most sports are as small as us internationally with little choice, or are insanely corrupt.

I'm sorry but if England win this series it will always be known they won both games where they had an English referee. Its an embarrassment that the deciding game of a series is not refereed by a neutral.

The argument that Sutton blew to many penalties is invalid. If he is blowing penalties then both teams are obviously not playing within the laws of the game. To be honest the only issue I had with Sutton was that after 10 odd penalties, he should have given both captains a warning, then bin the next culprit.

Get your excuses in lad!! We didn't wim the first test by 14 points because of the ref!! Nor did you win by 7 cos of the ref!!

Like ive already pointed out on TRL...thaler actually awarded tbe kiwis a try on the field but it got chalked of by the VR ref....thaler called englands first try as a no try...which was over turned by the VR ref

Neither ref have made game changing clangers, unlike in last years 4nations..but thalers test flowed...suttons test stopped every 2.5 mins..get your fxxking heads out the sand!!!

Before the refs even got announced i joked in another thread.."give a test to a english ref, give a test to henry perenara,a kiwi, then toss up the 3rd...id rather have done that than give all 3 tests to a aussie, who as sutton proved last week CAN'T REF ON THEIR OWN ANYMORE..i even joked a couple of days before the test that both teams need to clear the ruck quicker or else sutton will be blowing like hes at a 90s rave..and why was that?? Cos he didn't have a pocket ref clearing the ruck for him! So he felt the need to blow up instead!!

Any none Leeds fans entertain the notion that Danny Maguire is unlucky not to be in the mix for this game? Williams looks an excellent prospect but you'd like to think Mag's experience and form warranted consideration. At least he knows how to bring Hall into the game

So Thaler lets players get away with breaking the rules?? How does England go from giving minimal penalties away to double figures the week later??

My how your tune has changed in 12 months (in ref to 4N Aus vs ENG):

i see the aussies have appointed a aussie ref....fcking pathetic

here the list

2014 v australia - sutton (oz)
2013 v australia - perenara (nz)
2011 v australia - perenara (nz)
2011 v australia - cecchin (oz)
2010 v australia - archer (oz)
2009 v australia - ganson (eng) * should be noted he binned thurston
2009 v australia - williamson (nz)
2008 v australia - archer (oz) archer & hayne reffed england 2 other group games & englands semi
2006 v australia - klein (oz ref reffing in ESL) *australia lost
2006 v australia - mander (oz)
2005 v australia - ganson

12 games...9 reffed by aussies or kiwis...2 reffed by a englishman and one reffed by a aussie reffing in ESL

KIWIS or FRENCHMEN should have reffed every single game!

Guess i just have a problem with australian refs! Reffing australia games cos as melbourbe last year proved..the are bent as fxxk

Id have been happy if peranara got suttons job

Plus this is a test series not a 4nations or world cup..where neutral refs are a must..

I cant believe NZRL didn't say Peranara for one test...they must be really strapped for cash as they usually take over a referee and touchie for development..

Have the teams been named yet? Or squads? That's one thing that has annoyed me this series, naming a squad of players instead of 1-17.

Not yet. Should get named overnight. Tournament is under RFL rules, so 19 man squad 48 hours before kick off.

Kiwis have been naming 1-19, but the English just do it alphabetically. Agreed it's a pain in the arse if you are used to the NRL system.

Apparently ' spud has a problem counting too. Harrigan who posts on here reckons the penalty count last week was 7-6 not 14-14.

according to the official Opta stats the penalty count finished 7-6 in favour of the Kiwis.

I saw no problem with Sutton on Saturday. He put his foot down early and the teams adapted. He kept a much better 10, because of the early penalties the ruck was very clean compared to Thaler and he didn't make any stupid decisions like Thaler's playing the ball on the ground on Nightingale when he never even went to ground in the tackle.

Maybe Spud, who I like btw, is just taking his frustrations out on factors that aren't even there. After all spud, you did predict a 3-0 whitewash and for England to win by 20 each time ;) the fact we never looked like scoring at all during that game has to grate on you somehow

Thaler is the better ref but for a test between England v NZ Sutton should be the ref as he is neutral! But then that would be just be using common sense wouldn't it which our sport seems to lack in abundance!
