About time, turnstile McGoldrick is gone, replaced by Phil Bailey.
Crab runner Merritt gone too, Dave Simmons in.
A good chance Sullivan to start at hooker.

Seems Raper has waited for the last game of the year to panic.
Pick this game as the start of Rapers downfall.

If these changes were neccessary, then they were due 6 weeks ago , possibly 12. Not for the last game.

This means 2 things.
Raper has had a blow up with Goldy or Goldy has criticised the online defense patterns.

This also mean Phil from Grin will be irate. As stated before, he has clear cut goals to make the touring party in the forward pack & this was his last game to impress.

Replace Merrit with Simmo?? Why ???

I've been calling for changes for ages. I believe a senior player vented his opinion and was backed up, and Rapes was almost forced to act!!! :shock: :shock: :shock:

If i was gonna replace any winger with another winger it would be Rieck with Saleh! Merrit is better defensively than rieck and has been sniffing around the rucks looking for more ball lately and is with peach back is beginning to look dangerous. Simmo is not gonna stiffen up our defence one bit!

Dont know if i like the Goldy move either. Both NQ's centers arent the quickest players going around so hopefully bailey can cover them well.

Like Reefy said though why all the changes in the last round when he has stuck solid with most guys all year!

Have to wait and see how the week pans out i guess.

I dont believe the forced to act line.

If any Cronullas player is tearing shreds out of another one on defensive issues, I will very upset & I would not like to be that cronulla player near beer hill at any time next year.
It gets out it all ways does.
go through the defensive stats of our senior players. Disgraceful too.

Sideline Eye is right 99.99% of the time. Take it as read I think.

I think it is long overdue for McGoldrick to be replaced and Sullivan to start, but I can't understand dropping Merritt at all. He's been one of the year's biggest improvers.

I like the sound of these changes. Goldy ran up too fast in the line every time over the last two weeks and deserves a dropping. Sully can play hooker, and Hilder easily at lock. Or Dumas even depending on fitness. Kent could come onto the bench for Sully which would satisfy all the Kent fans... Though I'd drop Rieck before Merritt.

It seems to me that the important issue here is WHY and WHY NOW.

If this is an attempt by Raper to introduce a change that will have the Cowboys guessing and disrupt their game plan then fine (although if I were at Cowboys the biggest change to any game plan from this would be to target Simmo instead of Reick!).

If it was forced by internal issues or Raper suddenly had a revelation about the last few weeks then there is real reason to worry because either he is not running the team any more or he has no clue how to fix problems.

Either way, if this is anything but a ploy 2005 could become a repeat of the last few years - with diffent names. #-o
