This year is officially a 2 horse race.

It doesn't take much to change it around. A couple of injuries to Smith/Cronk/Slater and Melbourne wouldn't look so shiny.

Brisbane have great depth in most positions, but if players like Hodges, Hannant, Thaiday go down then it could change things as well. (So far so good for Hodges....*fingers crossed*)

I know we're only in Round 7, but is anyone seriously going to stop the Storm or the Broncos?

In an incredibly dour year for point scoring, Melbourne and Brisbane have actually managed to rack up plenty of points a game. And have they actually looked challenged in games? Brisbane have had some tight calls, yet they've looked comfortable in every game (yes, I know the Broncos lost to the Cowboys, which was a miraculous win). Melbourne have looked unstoppable.

The embarrassing for and against for the entire ladder tells the rest of the story. The Tigers, Titans and Eels are diabolical, the rest have moments of brilliance but mostly put in terrible performances. It's no wonder we see so many low scoring games at the moment.

The ladder is effectively:

1.Melbourne

2. Brisbane

3. Daylight

No it isn't dopey.

What makes it official? I'd like to see a market and have a bet on "any other runner". What price would you make the field vs the two "faves"?

Curious to see what Manly can offer after about round 20. Only had their best team on the park for 15 minutes this year and won't get it back until round 10. And it's pretty much the squad that won the comp last year.

We're close to equal with Melbourne on the table in stats alone. Anyone who thinks we've been close to them on form/performance is kidding themselves.

Brisbane have played ordinary football but have ground out some close, and ugly, wins. Precisely what you should be doing at this point in the season. Plenty of other teams have looked far better than us in patches throughout the opening rounds, despite not being as consistent.

Have the Storm played any good teams yet? Raiders, Knights, Roosters, Titans, Cows, Souths.
I suppose Cows and Knights have some support to do well in the finals. But they haven't met the Broncos or Manly. Warriors beat them twice last year too.

If anyone genuinely thinks it is a two horse race then you can back them both to win the comp at around 40%. Easy money and you won't get a better price.

Early days.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Surprised you didn't link this thread to a News Limited conspiracy and start ranting on about how great Andrew Voss is though.

.

Ron Swanson's premiership odds:

Melbourne or Brisbane premiership: $2.00
Anyone else: $14.00

Its Melbourne Then Daylight then brisbane then the rest. By far the stand out team. I do question if they have the ability to step it up when it counts. Can they actually play better?

Brisbane have been far from impressive in most of there games. They appear to go missing for long periods and there attack looks disjointed and un organised. BUT they are still managing to grind out games. Sign of a very good team! Lots of improvement left in them and im shocked at how well Wallace has played. Will be there at end of the year for sure.

Bump.

After Anzac Day and Friday night, the gap continues to widen between the 2 best clubs and the rest.

The Sharks are positioned 3rd on the ladder. Says it all about the rest.

Round 12 will be a cracker. One of these teams is actually going to lose for a change.

I've heard these ads on the radio for some mob called 'Advanced Medical Institute'. Apparently really helpful for someone with this sort of problem. Helps you to 'last longer'. Check it out.

Advanced Medical Institute is a scam that uneducated bogans fall for, so have you got a better suggestion to cure my problems in the bedroom and on this forum?

I remember a bookie paying out on us to be minor premiers this time last year.

We won 4 more games all year.

Are premierships won in March/April?

No, but you can go a very long way to losing it by the end of either month through injury or being shit (Parra, Wests, Titans etc).

It may be a two horse race at the moment, but its a long way to go, Saints looked goof last year for a long stretch before the 6 week long distraction that is Origin came into calculations.
They were out of juice shortly thereafter.

I think Ron might be the kinda bloke that is cheering if the horse he backs in the Melbourne Cup is ahead after the first 500m.
