Like it or not, the official Club website will become for more important in the coming years, if what is happenning in Europe is anything to go by.

The clubs sell memberships to their official internet site, which is another way for them to raise revenue. However, the big advantage over there is that it offers so much more than just a couple of tipping comps. They are able to broadcast their games live on the internet, so if you are a member, you can log in and watch the game. Usually, the fans have computer monitors as large as TV's, hook it up to a decent sound system, and away you go.

Probably a couple of years off here in Australia, but keep an eye out for it.

difference is though, it is near impossible to get tickets to games, and you cant watch any of the games unless you have the money for the BSky B.

Our league supporters would have to become alot more passionate about their game for that to be successful.

Well I am a season ticket holder so I think that I will automatically have access to the site. But if I didnt, there is no way in hell that I would pay for that crap! Typical of Parra tho, make things worse than what they were before and then charge you for it! FOOLS!!!

Good call Nikki.

Maybe with Trish Sinclair back in the reigns things will get done a bit more professionally, and the feedback to supporters will be genuine, not half-arsed like it has been.

Firstly Trish's name is Trish Crews! Trish married NSL Goalkeeper Andrew Crews a couple of years ago. Secondly Trish looks after season Ticket holders and game day operations for the Eels and Power, she does not have much say (maybe not) in what happens with the members club and the PR side of things.

Did anyone read the membership info that was sent out last week????
Last year membership came bundled in with season tickets, due to a budgeting error this year will go back to previous years (pre 2003) and Blue & Gold Army membership will be a seperate fee. If you don't want to be a Blue & Gold Army member you can join the alternative club, Internet Eels for just $10. This is the members section of the website which you have always had to pay for!

I guess most of you will be joining the Baby Eels club, that's how you're acting!

Nah I'm not kidding. You have always had to pay for the members section of the website. If you don't like it don't join, pretty simple...

Due to a budgeting error eh!!

I'd say there will be a bigger budgeting error this year if they are going to charge us for something that last year we got for free.

Way to gain members guys.

Gotta re-coup the Power's losses somehow, eh!!

And while we are at it, we may as well blame Michael Egan for the extra stresses of running the club.

Wee Waa my arse.

Um, it was part of your season ticket price last. That was the error. If you were a member in 2002 you would remember that you payed for your membership then...
Your arse is Wee Waa????

I wouldn't pay $10 for the internet access only.

I was going to join the Blue & Gold army for my cap,I love the cap,lol but I see we get that with our season tickets.

So now I have to decide if I want to join the B&G army & get the fridge magnet, sticker, backpack, another cap, hehe ,oh yeah & internet access.....
I dunno,decisions,decisions :?

BTW I don't know about Wee Waa but I know Suity has nice buns =P~ \\:D/ ;-)

Now that's a website that you would consider paying $10/year for! Especially for supporters that didn't live in Sydney, couldn't get to games etc. But charging $10 for what's on the site now is steep (even if they are including the charge in your season ticket or b&g army price)!

Trish has been known to alot of us for many years so I guess we are allowed to refer to her from time to time as Sinclair. And even tho she is looking after game day events dont underestimate the amount of pull she has with our club.

This one I didnt realise. I automatically assumed it would all be payed for again this year. I dont reall think it is worth the money to pay for it extra. I can see the boys fairly regularly why pay for the privelage. I know that I am going to be joining the actual Rugby League club thingy next year so thats where my $10 is gunna go.

charge $10 to be an internet member!? :?

Dont you have to provide a service in order to charge people a fee?

Oh wait i've got it!!

Wasnt the competitions etc last year simply a place for the employees down their to run their own tipping comp? The $10 from each supporter will probably go into the prize money pool for the employees tipping comp!

What has it got to do with seeing the players? The internet eels club is just the members section of the website where the comps, games and photos are etc etc etc...
You don't really get much as a football club member you don't even get to vote for the board anymore! But you do get your name in the PDRL year book, that's cool!
I'm getting the feeling everyone here thinks you have to pay for parraeels.com.au access. That's not the case, you are only paying for access to the members section, which I think is fair. No-matter where you go these days you have to pay for membership....
At least one good thing is coming out of next season, Girls Jersey's!!!!

They must think we are stupid to charge us 10 bucks.

Don't worry you don't have to pay to enter the site just the members section! It has been like that all along! Internet Eels Club is just a new membership club for internet users!

I don't bother going to the site anymore. I used to post on the board regularly until the moderator came along and stopped my comments being posted. I do understand that its not their fault that they have to moderate the comments now, but I don't like it. Thats just my opinion.

I think most people realise what you mean. :)
The thing is, they did very little to maintain the members section as well. The only part that was maintained weekly was the competitions section. And that was only because they ran their own internal competitions from with in.

All the member chats with players, the profile updates, etc, never really came to fruition, and now if they are going to charge for it, i would want a solid commitment that they were going to work on it on a very regular basis.
