I'm actually starting to get sick of Queensland wanting to have a bet each way with Thurston. If he is not fit then he shouldn't be selected tomorrow. Kevin Walters is asking Wayne Bennett for Anthony Milford to train with the team and be a stand by. Wayne Bennett has rightly said that if he is not selected in the team then he won't be training with the team and will be playing against the Warriors on Saturday night.

Expecting clubs to sacrifice players so Rep teams can cover every scenario is unreasonable.

"Thurston said last week he expected to suit up for his 37th consecutive Origin game, but Maroons and Cowboys medicos do not share the champion pivot’s confidence.
Such is Walters’ concern, the Queensland coach wants Milford as his contingency plan and has sounded out Bennett on the possibility of the Broncos sensation joining Camp Maroon.

Bennett last week made it clear he would not release Milford immediately unless he was guaranteed a place in Queensland’s starting 17.

However, the Broncos coach is open to the idea of Milford being a late arrival into Camp Maroon after he plays for Brisbane against the Warriors in New Zealand this Saturday night.

Milford would be available to fly into camp on Sunday — the very day the Maroons will make a final call on Thurston’s fitness."

Thurston should just bite the bullet and step down from game 1 and return for the rest of the series. He clearly shouldn't have played in the test and got injured as a result, he likely won't be at 100% for Origin and there is every chance he will get a more serious injury that will f**k him up even more.

Doesn't matter if he's fit or not, his time is over.

Pearce is clearly the best halfback in the world right now, and will lead NSW to a 3-0 whitewash, Thurston or no Thurston.

It is classic Wayne hypocrisy. Whinge about having to give up players to origin and then go sign current origin player Jack Bird.

Try and take English players into a camp away from their club during the pre season and then try and stop Milford playing for Samoa when it suits him and now block him as Qld 18th man.

Well done Kevvie Walters for out manouvring him and selecting him as a starter. Hope Thurston is declared fit on Monday to spite the old prick.

What the hell is signing Jack Bird got to do with this??? Seriously talk about drawing a long bow and taking a dig at something that is completely irrelevant.

Urgggh the Dragons deserves to lose Josh Dugan because Daly is playing him in the centres and that's where the Dragons want him to play even though Dugan suggests he's a fullback. Therefore Dugan was entitled to leave for the Sharks because the Dragons put into Laurie Daly's head that Dugan is a centre.

So Wayne has also signed the grub from Catalans? Hope he got him cheap.

The point is Waynes hypocrisy. When he is a rep coach it is all about the clubs needing to give over more to the greater good of rep footy and the game.

When he is the Broncos coach he cries poor about having to give so many players to rep teams. A few years back he had a massive sook about the number of players the Broncos give to rep games and how bad he has it and it isnt fair wah wah! He then goes and signs JACK Bird who will ne a NSW origin mainstay for the best oart of the next 10 years!

Wayne likes to see himself as this voice for doing what is best for the game. The reality is his entire agenda is all about him. He will use the media to push his agenda then sook when the media goes somewhere he doesnt want them to. Hypocrite.

I do, but I wrote that post before Anthony Milford was named in the Queensland team's starting line up. Bennett's been outmaneuvered and is preparing to face the Warriors on Saturday night with Ben Hunt and Benji Marshall as the starting halves.

You are completely missing the point in the midst of your rush to create an agenda against anything Brisbane related.

Milford is no chance of playing, JT will absolutely play. He's our gun half, you'd want the same if your club was in the same situation.

Benny's got a better chance against the Warriors with Hunt than Qld have with Milford against NSW . . . if he was fit I'd prefer to see Hunt replace Thurston

Except tackling and giving away penalties. World class apart from those issues.

When it comes to giving away penalties - he's in a class of his own.
World Class doesn't even come close
Milky Way class would be under selling it

He did exactly the same at the Warriors. Helps teams win matches though, that's fer sure. Just don't understand how he hasn't learned not to give away dumb penalties in all that time.
