Thurstons headgear.

I was giving it to Thurston all game, but was the kid did was quite disrespectful. He seemed old enough to know the implications of what he did. Some will say that it was a child so it was okay, but seriously, Thurston goes out of his way to make a gesture to the kids like he always does and the impudent whelp spits on his goodwill.

Spoiled little brat, plain and simple.

Saw the kid and his family after the game.... headgear in hand.

To be fair, he looked no older than 5 and it would have been wet and stinky. I actually handed them a plastic bag to carry it in

f**k me, if that was me a few years ago I would have hugged it and not let it go. But then again, I may be a tad biased

Good to see some Parra fans acknowledge his deeds. Seriously, a game of football goes for 80 minutes, so that leaves 6 days 22 hours and 40 minutes where he is the person you saw give away his headgear.

""On the field, I think he is an a-grade grub, but that is just his competitvenes coming out.
I noticed after every conversion, he would hand the tee to the parra ball boys as opposed to just throwing it at him and would give him a pat on the back...little things i know, but for these kids its massive. Seems to be pretty good with the kids""

that sums him up. Nexttime you watch him, see how much better he treats the kids than many other players. Even the Darren Lockyers, Cameron Smitus and Jarryd Haynes of the world don't do that. If you entirely base your assumptions on 80 mins a week, you're crazy.

Are you guys serious? You can't see why he's despised so much? Let's see...

* He kicks the ball away in disgust when he f**ks up (great sportsmanship there)
* He speaks to referees as he damn well pleases
* He seems to blame everyone but himself for c**k-ups (true, Reddy's try should have been cleaned up by Bowen, but how about the dirty looks he was giving his teammates when Hayne scored his second and third tries? He got brushed aside like a rag doll in both instances)

1. kicking the ball away stops the play and prevents opposition having any advantage.. its just playing smart. almost every player does it. throwing the ball away, etc.
2. hes the captain of the team, so hes entitled to question referees over certain decisions they make.. but not the way he did during the incidient a while back. he's probably learnt from that by now
3. 1v1 big man on smaller man? what do you expect to happen? maybe the dirty looks were because his teammates were supposed to support him in defence? considering hes their halfback 'the smallest man on the field'.

FMD I sometimes wonder if you people really do watch anyone else but the eels, sometime the 'one eyed eel ' overshadows your judgement.
The Cowboys have underacheived massively in the last few years but without JT they would have ran dead last every time.
The bloke is an out and out champion and without doubt the best player in the world.
He would have been massive at the eels.
His gesture to the kid was fantastic. he could have given it to a cowboys fan but was magnanimous enough to give it to an eel fan.
What a champion.

I've always liked JT from the moment he gave Steve price his premiership ring. If I remember correctly Price was injured or suspended for his last game with the dogs in the gf and thurston was 18th and got the nod. I thought it was a really nice gesture.

Nah, thats called pressure from the higher-ups to give it to him.
I hope Pricey gave it back to him though.

JT has a 20% winning rate for the cowboys over the past 2 seasons... pretty pathetic really. For the so called best halfback in the comp that's a disgraceful stat.

I bet his miss tackles would be a pretty good stat too.. pity it doesn't specify which ones directly handed the opposition a try.

actually id like to know how many tackles he has put on Hayne as opposed to how many he has missed on Hayne this year. it just seems to me that whenever Hayne has the ball even in origin somehow Thurston ends up on the ground

Hell Hayne is a massive unit... Hes 6 foot 2 and about 100 kgs....
JT is not the biggest bloke around.
Hayne can play a bit too.

If a kid from Sydneys west doesnt care about JOHNATHON THURSTONS head gear, what chance does Irael Folau have of getting kids onside?

I thought it was symbolic of the football attitude of Sydney.

Yeah, i think the past 2 years Thurstons been seeing alot of Haynes palm.
Haynes first touch in Origin 1 this year - smashes Thurston.
