To have another game in Melbourne on the same day of the AFL grand final is pretty brave. I'd be surprised if this game cracks 30,000.

I actually think it has potential to be a good thing being on the same day, hopefully we can cash in on the teams supporters who arent in the GF and want someone to cheer for on the day. If it was on at the same time as the AFL GF it'd be a disaster, but being several hours after it finishes is a good thing.

considering its AFl grand final day, any crowd over 30k will be great. The NRL could have been clever and given half priced or even, free entry to AFl grand final ticket holders...that would have been something.

Honestly think this game will rate well on tv. It's up against repeat movies and most people should flick from the AFL grand final to this while they eat before heading out. The only thing it's really up against is AFL grand final review on One HD, so they should crack 300 000.

Would be great if they got close to or over 30,000.

Just wondering however whether we've had a crowd lower than that for a preliminary final.

What time is it on in Melbourne?

Don't worry we've had a few.

Just last year I'm sure Storm v Sharks didn't crack 30k at the SFS.

In 2006 only 28-29k watched the Dogs v Broncos at the SFS in a prelim. Disgraceful.

They are the two most recent.

Apart from advertising the game so people pre-purchase tickets, they should wack up a couple signs as people exit the MCG.

But we weren't up against an afl grandfinal that day or live against the gate.
I'd be really happy with 30,000 considering the unfortunate circumstances.

Just an update of tickets bought so far...just under 20,000 already sold.

Not farkin' likely!

Last year Vlad had a hissy fit when the city of Melbourne posted banners for the Australia Vs England WC pool match out the front of AFL HQ and they had to be taken down.

If that's how they go with zero competition you can only imagine how little favors the AFL will do us on a day when big games are on!

They don't own the MCG mate

The MCC may be able to be talked into some post game promotion
