Tigers board baulks at proposed contract extensions for Benji

You cant blame the board for baulking at increasing Marshall's contract, today was a perfect example, you would think an elite player wanting near a million a season would of taken that game by the scruff of the neck and stamped his authority like Thurston,Johns and Lockyer always seemed to do !

Exactly. Benji was by far and away the most high profile and highest paid player on the field for both teams. We scored 4 tries, he had a hand in 1 and even that was a shit pass which made nofa have to work much harder then he should have had to.

His kicking game was atrocious and his decision making in general was poor. In the end it was just individual brilliance from Simona and nofoaluma that won us the game.

The thing is didn't he play well. How good was his kicking game. How good was that pass to Nofo.

I admit he isn't Andrew Johns at this point but geez he was good.

His kicking game carried us. Simona won us that game but Benji and the forwards kept us in the game.

Marshall's kicking game was absolutely atrocious.

He put in two good kicks all afternoon, one was the bomb that Sironen took, the other was the almost 40/20 late in the game.

The rest of the time he kicked it dead, found wingers/fullback on the full or my favourite, putting up bombs when we are up by 2 with 8 to go.

He is a DUMB player and does not know how to close out a game. Why in the world wouldn't you kick the ball dead?

We expect alot out of Benji, today i thought some of his kicks were of little effect, simply applying no pressure on the opposition and simply turning the ball over. The WT last play of the match was a perfect example, why not kick it dead instead of giving the opposition another play in the dying seconds to win the game.Other kicks of his were fine.Being a senior player wanting big bucks his biggest fault is that he makes a lot of rookie mistakes !

Spot on, the problem with Marshall is that he will do this again in the coming weeks and years, he does not learn and will not change his ways. He really can be a DUMB player sometimes.

He ran a whopping 26 metres.
So much for his I'm going to run it more spiel.

This is a load of crap and I don't get why he or anyone else says it. He isn't that player anymore. He will make the occasional bust but he isn't going to do it all the time.

His mojo has gone. Its not a form slump or the team is struggling.
Something is seriously not right.
I cant see him coming back to anywhere near his best ever again....and certainly not consistently.
Let him come off contract and see if he improves by this time next year before signing him.
But.......he is shot and aint bouncing back.
Let him go and lets rebuild.

He looks to me like he has been told to let the 7 call the shots until he sees an opportunity, so he has the shits and taken an approache like " ok then ill do f**k all then " . He certainly didnt look like a leader out there last night taking control. I still think he has plenty of good football left in him but wether his ego will let him do that under Potter who knows.
Maybe its just me but he looks unhappy on the field, almost like he is a loner out there ? Because like u Charlie i feel something isnt right with him ?

He looks to me like a whinning biatch who doesnt want to be out there.

Needs a reality check of NSW Cup to see what its like putting in 110% after a full day of work.

The good thing to come out of all this is, young Siro is starting to call the shots and is making a good fist of it. Benchy should have ran rings around the other mob, but was happy to catch and pass.I dont know if they are the coaches instructions or if he is just pissed off but the bottom line is you dont throw a quarter of your cap at a player that catches and passes.

Iam still willing to cut him a little slack and would like to see how he goes in a full strength team but if his manager holds a gun at the club and demands a upgrade and a extension, I would say on your bike sunshine

I would love to see Benji finish his career as an absolute champion and a guy who could see out his retirement basking in the glory Tigers supporters (if not all league supporters) pile on him forever. Sadly it's not looking like a happy ending for him or us at this stage. I'd like to keep him on for his past glory days but we have far to many genuinely exciting players coming through that I wouldn't want to lose because of top end bucks paid to a middle range player.
Benji, don't embarrass yourself asking for more money until the entire rugby league world are singing you praises. I sincerely hope that happens.

I think that his toe or another leg related niggle is still bothering him. He has not looked to be running completely freely and I think his fitness is still down. Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of giving him a rest due to the heap of other players injured and we need his form to be back.

Yeah I think this is the case. He definitely didn't look 100%.

I was absolutely loving watching Siro play 7. He has really started own that position and not overplay his hand. Siro will be our starting 7 or 6 for a long while.

Sirro looks better all the time when he runs the ball...Benji should have a good look at himself and accept that he is responsible for his current form.Once he is true to himself and prepares properly the player we know he can be may emerge again.
