1. This is an EELS board. Naturally we'd be excited about our signings - who was Hopkins before coming to Parra? Who was Petersen? These no-name players are now vital to our squad. What I mean is do not diss our signings until you have seen them play. Same goes for Eels fans.

2. Because it is an Eels board, just who exactly are you trying to impress? Nobody here (or a very small proportion of posters anyway) would agree with you anyway.

3. I agree some people are cocky; I remember last year in Round 21, Eels V Tigers @ Parra, some people were SO confident we'd win. I was nervous. Final score? Eels 21, Tigers 18.

4. And about the 'reject' tag. I wouldn't be so quick to point the finger. Hodgson and Richards were Eels rejects. We did not want to keep them. Therefore they were rejects. And look at Campbell - a Sharks reject who tears teams up.

May I just makeone final plea? This is a message board for football, the greatest sport of all. Nevermind that this is the Eels section. It is for Rugby League. And I think that by having people come on here and say, "Your signings suck!" and "Our team's a million times better than yours" is immature.

Discuss the topic at hand, the Wests team.

I have picked Parra to win this by 16,I got blasted on the official site for it but I like the look of your team.Wagon at 6 is a weak point IMHO,but he is against Fitzy who is not a noted tackler.Maybe thats why Smith has him there to run at Fitzy.Id be spewing if I was a Parra fan and the ball wasnt getting out to the likes of Lyon(who I think is the worlds best centre)and Grothe who is a big scarey unit becasue of Wagon going himself......

And I wouldnt underestimate Benji at centre.If he gets ball in space he will be very hard to handle,and Vaeliki has been off his game lately so you never know.

One to watch for you Parra fans is Laffranchi,he doesnt look big but he is very strong and hard to pull down,AND he goes for it near the line and often scores.

PS....and chance of getting Hindmarsh to have a night off.

PPS.....whaddya think of my attempt to raise the level of this debate??? ;-) ;-)

I always welcome some intelligent debate from the opposition. Unfortunately there isn't a 15+ restriction on this website so you do tend to get some childish jibber. A 16 point margin between the 2 sides on paper is a pretty fair assessment i'd say, but as we all know footy games aren't won on paper...

I honestly couldn't care less about the result, pre-season form means nothing. Last year Penrith didn't win a single game in the pre-season if I remember correctly. The most important thing is that the players get some match fitness and stay INJURY FREE!
