Another backrower in the front row. Yay!

Backrow-------front row.

Not a lot of difference these days.

Just another excuse for a whingefest methinks.

Could have done worse--but why in gods name a backrower. Maybe Shines is going to turn the backrowers into outside backs and visa versa. I can see Junior burger doing the hit ups. We need 1---halves
2--winger
3--centre
4--props
and what dont we need---you got it backrowers

Oh mr shines you have done it again

i'm jumping on the "jumping on the fence" bandwagon
seen him play, not bad but we would've paid overs for him
and he'll likely play most of the season in PL.

Guess that minimal difference is the reason why our pack of second rowers gets dominated most weeks, eh Simon?

I have been whinging for years that we lack size and mongrel up front.

We sign a young kid with guess what???

A bit of size and mongrel about him and the agenda ridden whingefest continues.

Boring.....

Fair enough to have a whinge.....but really.Im getting to the embarassed stage with some of you clowns on here.Toughen up FFS,we go for the Tigers not the Roosters. We dont BUY premierships,we cultivate them with our own.

Unfotunately that backrow has lacked some agro and size.....this kid has both.

Give him a chance b4 you write him off.

Ive watched him closely and Im impressed.

Ever since simon was knocked back for his application to the F.W.O., he has been quite the positive fellow in the belief of miracles....
lol

You`d assume that we have given up trying to find a decent centre and that Danny Galea might be once again considered as a centre ???
From what i`ve seen of Corey Payne, he`s got some untapped ability, but he is smallish, certainly nowhere near big enough to be effective in the front row.

That's not what your signature says:

"If he keeps playing like that......I will dead set join the FWO." - quote simonthetiger 1 game to go

I think the total was set at 6 average games from about round 5 or 6. He couldn't manage 6 average games (by your Fitzhenry standards) in 20 games.

Payne is about 6'2 and a half, and Galea is 5'10 on his tippy toes.

Chalk and cheese.

And this kid got metres in limited time last year.

so he is tall - he is only listed as 100kg - So he might not be small but he certainly aint big

What a stupid buy??? Tigers already have a good backrow rotation. Teo, Fulton, Harrison, Heighno - then throw in Halatau, Saffy, O'hara

At least he should keep those players on their toes. Trials will be interesting

bullcrap - well heighno might no be 'aggro' as such he certainly does have the size.

Also with Harrison back to back row and partner with Teo (who should be firing after a FG offseason - there possibility of these two guys becoming a combo like the hair bairs - Puletua and Galuvao ('03 standards - when they one daily M best backrowers - not playing in QLD cup).

Someone posted above he has size?????? He's aboput 6 foot 1, but seriously lightweight for a second rower - he's barely 96kgs.

Agreed he has some potential however Sheensy will need to make him work on his error rate and the amount of penalties he gives away. Started ok a couple of years back, but has never been the same since his couple of really serious concussions he suffered this season and the season before.

The Tigers defense was their major let down in 2007. So if the blokes in the team now miss too many tackles, and missing tackles is the main problem, then it makes sense to try to sign players who are excellent defenders and don't miss many tackles.

In saying that I don't know what Corey Paynes' defensive stats are like. But there must be a reason for signing him other than more backrow options. I was thinking we should be in there chasing Willie Mason, but Willie's defensive stats probably aren't that impressive compared to some workhorses like Hindmarsh, Fitsgibbon, etc. Just another big lump for Matt Bowen to step around.

We need players who are consistanly excellent defenders so opposing teams arent scoring soft tries and consistantly getting over the advantage line with their hitups like they have been. Just remember the Monday night games against Parra & Brisbane. Men against boys.
