No doubt that the busted arses that are currently wearing Cardinal and Myrtle shame our supporters. We deserve the slings being thrown our way, no doubt about it.

That said, seems to me that the majority of the fire is coming from the Most Successful Club in Rugby League, the Wests Tigers.

Why else would their supporters be coming at us from all angles?

What has this success been built on?

Lets have a look:

1. We have been panned on how crap we have been over our entire history versus their club:

Western Suburbs Magpies (1908-1999)
* 4 premierships (last one 56 years ago in 1952)
*17 Spoons
* Vs Souths 71wins 106 losses

Balmain Tigers (1908-1999)
* 11 premierships (last one 30 years ago, 1 comp in 51 years)
*4 Spoons
* Vs Souths 80wins 95 losses

No wonder they merged these two together.

Supporters where born and died, and never saw a premiership.

Souths have more comps than them combined, and better win/loss records against them both.

No wonder they don’t want to talk about this period.

That is history you say. Fine, lets look at the modern merged version:

2. The Wests Tigers (2000-2008)
* 1 finals appearance for 1 premiership (The Bradbury)
* Vs Souths 6wins 5 losses

On top of that:
* Playing out of 5 home grounds
* On the verge of losing their Leagues Club in Rozelle
* Where is the $8m they where given due to the merger?
* The Fat Leso

So, the Tigers have won 1 more game against us, played in the same number of finals series (1), but they went on to win theirs in 2005 after everyone else slipped over.
The proof is in the pudding when they couldn’t make the finals in 2006 and 2007.

So despite all of our woes, I hope we aren’t looking towards this busted arse club for ideas.

Guys like Noyce are the reason why Clubs have been in the sewer, which is an apt description if you have ever been to Leichhardt or Campbelltown Oval.

Hope that clears things up chaps.

Look, I don't care to enmesh myself in the petty banter between Souths & Tigers supporters, although I will pull you up on one stat.

Brisbane in 2006 = lost 11 games
Tigers 2005= lost 10 games.

Therefore.... Brisbane in 2006 were the Bradbury Premiers.

this is only an opinion calling it the Bradbury, what fact is it? , the only fact i see is that they won the premiership.
Also you forget to name the stat how many final games they won , you cant just pick and choose what stats you want to dig up.
And I hate the Tiges as much as anyone , that matter souths too.

Tigers close to collapse

SPORTING legends are rallying to save Balmain Tigers Leagues Club from imminent collapse.
Dawn Fraser, Ben Elias and Paul Sironen want Leichhardt Council to end three years of delays and approve redevelopment plans that would rescue the club from financial oblivion.
The club has long-standing plans to build a premises with 140 residential apartments, 39 shops and a car park on its Victoria Road, Rozelle, site.
Ms Fraser said yesterday: "I was made a life member of the club this year, which I consider one of the greatest achievements in my life, not only for me but for my family. To think that Leichhardt Council's failure to make a decision on the development could lead to the end of the Tigers just appals me."
Balmain Tigers chairman David Trodden yesterday disclosed the full extent of the club's financial plight - interest payments of $200,000 a month and a 20 per cent drop-off in poker machine revenue.
Mr Trodden said the Tigers, now in their 100th anniversary year, would fail to see it out unless a decision on the redevelopment was made by the council this month.
The collapse of the leagues club would sever one of the last ties holding the independent and financially strong Wests Tigers Football Club to its inner-west heartland, renewing calls for the joint venture team to base itself at Campbelltown.
"The club needs a decision now if we are to survive," Mr Trodden said.
"We don't want any favours, just certainty that someone will take responsibility and make a decision to decide our redevelopment and save this famous sporting club.
"Our proposed redevelopment has been subjected to an unprecedented three years of community consultation and discussion. All the issues that could be assessed by council have been, three times over. Now is the time for action.
"Council promised a decision on our future in 2007. It's now 2008 and we still have no guarantee we will get a decision. Unless we get a decision in April, we cannot guarantee that we will continue supporting any level of football, including the 120 teams and 2800 kids who play in our competition. The club also provides vital local community services and employs over 100 staff."
Leichhardt Mayor Carolyn Allen said the council had to make a decision based on the planning requirements of the community, not the financial position of the club.
She said a revised plan for the site would go on public exhibition on Wednesday, with the council to make a decision in late May or early June.
"Tigers is a great club and I am a member. But there may be other reasons for their financial position," Cr Allen said.
"There have been major issues with traffic and overshadowing, with the club proposing something much larger than originally discussed with our planners.
"The Tigers wanted the Planning Minister [Frank Sartor] to call the project in last December. He thought we had been too slow but has been happy with our progress since then."
State MP for Balmain Verity Firth said: "Of course any development needs to be very carefully assessed and the community's views heard and considered. But three years is too long and has clearly led to great uncertainty for both the Tigers and the community."

Interesting that you post this in a different thread after trying to use it to prove the Wests Tigers are in trouble financially and failing miserably. Quoting a media piece which was actually trying to pressure the council.

For the dullards I will repeat

Balmain Leagues is in a bit of strife pending the approval of the redevelopment of the Rozelle site but Wests Ashfield and Wests Campbelltown have already diversified into other projects such as real estate.

Not to mention that the Wests Tigers football club operates at a high enough turnover (which has grown even during the last two dissapointing seasons) to sustain itself on minimal Leagues Club grants.

It was a nice point you tried to make but unfortunatley it wasn't based in fact at all.

You have just proved my point. Balmain is in strife, but Wests prop you up. If the Magpies had half a brain, they would go it alone again and cut the Tigers loose, ala the Sea Eagles and the Bears. If it wasn't for the Campbelltown crutch, the Tigers wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
