Once I found out he was calling today, I went straight to triple M's coverage. He has ruined the Roast now...I find it laughable that he is now following me on Twitter after I quoted one of you guys from here making comment about him

Ch9 getting Tim Gilbert to call the CC Origin match goes to show that they simply don't give a stuff about the match and they, like most league supporters (except for the deluded like ECT who defends country rugby league at any opportunity), would like to see the back of this fixture sooner rather than later. For most of the broadcast, it sounded like Tim Tam was having a casual yarn about league to his commentators rather than actually calling the game.

Just a quick observation.

That's funny about Tim Gilbert following Azsportza on Twitter. I see Gilbert has 1200 followers himself. Vossy has well over ten times more. Rabs and Thugray Hadley don't tweet (too many bullies for Hadley)

Just saying.

To be fair, I don't actually mind Gilbert as a panelist or sideline reporter.

As a matchcaller he sucked though.

The only time he was bearable was when they used to cross to him for 5 mins on a Sunday for an around the grounds update.

Absolutely, i think he actually goes alright as a sideline eye.
I dont think this criticism is very warranted.

I agree that Gilbert was good in his role as the ''Around the Grounds'' reporter on The Sunday Footy Show a few years back. But i have found him annoying since early last year when they made him the Roast presenter. He pisses me off now whenever i see him! (like him doing the sports on Weekend Today, or when he's the main caller for RL, like yesterday for the City-Country game).

I wish he goes back to being a reporter, or a side-line commentator for the footy

He is turning into another "Eddie everywhere" type person. Sick to death of his name dropping and his sucking up to fellow panelists - like Leilah McKinnon and just his personality as a whole.
