The second anyone goes ''off script'', he abruptly tells them to talk about it after the show, in their own time. These topics the guests bring up are more important than what Gilberts asks.

And why does he ALWAYS have to throw the footy into the board when the 60 seconds is up on Pass the Ball segment? And miss! Get his head onto our screens? And he always pats the kids on their heads when this segment is over! Attention seeker!

The thing with Gilbert that he seems to have picked up. Every time someone makes a half break, or makes a good pass, he starts YELLING AT THE TOP OF HIS VOICE. Then he loses breath and you can barely understand him. It's really poor from a lead commentator.

I was only commenting on a different forum today about the juxtaposition between the game on Foxtel at 2pm today, compared to the 4pm game on Channel 9. The Foxtel coverage had better camera angles, better quality picture and the commentators were a class above.

It's actually embarrassing for Channel 9.

Watched the Sky NZ coverage online with Vossy calling it. Vossy's call crapped all over Gilbert's from a great height.

I can't understand with all the cost cutting measures going on why Ch9 couldn't have just taken the commentary and coverage from Sky NZ? I mean, the Warriors rarely feature on Ch9 as they're the team that's least affected by Ch9 sponsorship (since their fans in NZ can watch all of their games live on Sky NZ and even if Ch9 covers one of their home games, the folk in NZ - their main market - still takes the Sky commentary), so why the hassle? It would've saved them money flying Tim Tam, Gus and Freddy over to NZ + accomodation etc. I believe Super Rugby and A-League take the NZ commentary whenever matches are held over there (except for major events such as the Bledisloe Cup, where Fox Sports uses their own commentary team instead)

That is something we have known for a long time. Sure FOX may have more cash to spend on their broadcast but Channel 9, as "the home of Rugby League" have failed to live up to that name. They don't really care, they know they will make up for bad ratings with Origin.

It's simple. Channel 9 would rather spend cash than admit they were wrong by sacking Vossy. So they sent the horrid Gilbert over there to call it.

Wouldve preferred to listen to Vossy's commentary.

But Ch 9 have always had taken their own commentary to New Zealand, ever since the Warriors came into the competition in 1995. Rabs would occassionaly go over there, but most of the time Vossy was always the Ch 9 commentator.

Last year there was one game they covered in New Zealand, and Mat Thompson (QLD Cup commentator) was calling. Wouldve preferred him over Gilbert and Raaaaayyyy.
