Andrew Webster was in the Tigers system before Penrith 2021/22.

Did he even get an interview last year?

3 grubbers in the first half and 3 tries. A week after he lamented tries from kicks in his presser. Wonder how much we will practise defending kicks in the bye week? I feel todays loss is as much on him as any of our lads.

Does anyone else think that Marshall and Farah are doing most of the coaching at the Tigers? From the tigers games I’ve seen Sheens is standing at the back with Marshall/Farah front and centre

I have a theory that Benji runs the show and Sheens is taking the heat to protect him for a few years. His interview today came off from the Wayne Bennett, Jose Mourinho school of “say something stupid so you’re the story not your players”

That's basically what is happening.

Great players don’t always make good coaches.

It takes a different level of skill, work ethic and commitment to be a leader, tactician and club representative.

Understanding the game because you’ve played it, doesn’t always translate to success when coaching is about articulating the finer points of the game.

Id imagine with Benji, it would feel more like a training clinic during the week rather than a well drilled, disciplined football schedule.

Gus Gould mentioned this a few weeks back he said that sheensy knows this isn't the tigers they want yet and that the club is building into it, but they cant change anything for a few seasons, which means plenty of pain and losses, tims role is to cop the flack whilst training benji to coach after those few years hopefully theyd be competitive enough to let benji take over... its a smart play, but Tim might not be able to handle to amount of pressure from the fans for wins, the press he has no problems with

At least Tim hasn't pulled out the Mary Mcgregor book of excuses for each loss when there hasn't been any other options. Shows a certain level of contempt there to just ride the wave

Tim will be ok, one of the benefits of Alzheimer's. No recollection of the pastings 5 minutes after they happen.

Its good of Sheens to do what his doing, tanking his own record, Benji wouldn't survive 2 seasons with a sub 20% win percentage, this way he comes out the end of it with a clean record.

He won't last half a season when he becomes accountable. Fronting the media will see him off

Im on the fence about it, early Benji did not seem like the coaching type, he seemed like the type who would retire and probably never pick up another footy in his life. The latter years Benji seemed to have a lot more game awareness and football IQ which shows he got the game education from somewhere and if he can pass the knowledge on he’d probably be a decent coach. His playing career saw him play under a mixed bag of coaches
Sheens
Potter
Price (I think)
Mary
Cleary
Madge
Bennett
Kearney
Brian McLennan
There’s definitely both ends of the spectrum there.
