and daine laurie

''I called about 15 people black c---s when we played against them and it doesn't worry me if he did say it, because he is a black man. [I'm supporting Tahu] straight up.''

tbh I enjoyed that article til I read that d!ckhead Mundine's comments.

Hopefully Tahu can get back into training and keep his head down now. Something like this might help the team rally around him.

However it still annoys me that he played in that comp after whinging the previous week about DA forcing him to play on his 'sore' ankle only weeks before.

maybe his ankle is better now.

The SMH article confirms what I was told & posted yesterday.

I think the "tribal warfare" quote is VERY apt. Remember, these guys are extremely proud of their heritage & are out there to prove it. Some rivalries are like the Aussies V's the Poms, or NSW V's Qld type rivalries.

Interesting to see, that some people are still willing to believe that there is only one person at fault in this matter - and continue to bay for his blood...

How about you explain it seeing you know so much? I'm 1/8th Indian due to my great grandfather being full blooded Indian, does this mean it's a lesser crime for me to call an Indian person a black merkin than for someone who has zero Indian heritage to do the same. I would certainly hope not. I've got a mate who's got Aboriginal heritage due to a great grand parent also, even though he's as white as a glass of milk, does that mean it's a lesser crime for him to racially abuse full blooded Aboriginals than it is for anyone else??? Your argument is flawed.

In the article Daine Laurie said it and Anthony Mundine said it. It is more acceptable for people of the same race to use those terms to each other. Yes. I`m not aboriginal, so if you think my argument is flawed, that`s fine. But if you really want to know, go and ask an aboriginal person.

But aren`t most of us blaming the media? :sarcasm: The irony is that Anthony Mundine is called a dick head by many people, largely because the media have relentlessly portrayed him as a dickhead. Sure, he has said and done some dickhead things over the years, but the media have just blown it out of all proportion. And whether we like it or not, ALL of us at some point believe what we see or hear in the media. After all, what other information do we have?

i'll be honest and say that I don't think people should automatically attribute 200+ years of discrimination with it every time it comes from a white person's mouth as opposed to a black person ...... but hey, feel free to just ignore me and call me a dumb f'n white c---

I think it`s more like 50 years or so of discrimination that is pertinent - say the person and their parents` personal experience of discrimination by the system (which is a white system).
And if I called you a dumb white merkin, it means very little. If two aboriginal people call each other dumb black merkins, it means very little. But if a white man calls an aboriginal a dumb black merkin, it means a hell of a lot. These people and their parents and grandparents, etc, etc, etc, have been put down, marginalised, discriminated against, had their children stolen from them, were part of the flora and fauna act until the sixties (that is, they were only officially recognised as human beings in the 1960`s). All this done to them by a WHITE society, government, administrations, etc, etc. We white people come from a background of power going back many generations. Aboriginal people don`t.

That most recent article - as well as North Shore Eel`s comments - put things in a different perspective, don`t they?

''[Binge] was running down the sideline like a mad man, calling 'T' a black dog and a black c---.''

And there you have it folks. Does this guy sound like someone with credibility that we should take seriously? He is obviously a complete tool - and a racist one himself.

fmd some of you people are ridiculously gullible. It is astounding!

Aboriginal footballer-cum-boxer Anthony Mundine believed Tahu was the victim of a smear campaign.
''He's a straight-up man, so if he said he didn't say it, he didn't say it,'' Mundine said. ''The media is against Timana, trying to make him out as a hypocrite and having less integrity. That's bullsh*t.
''It's embarrassing for the guy who came out and [made the claims].
''It's like an African-American footballer calling another African-American the 'N' word. You can do that because you're one of them and this is the same situation.
''If somebody of Aboriginal descent called me a black 'C', that doesn't bother me.''

Anthony Mundine.... proudly sending society backwards since 1996

It really is quite pathetic how supposed Eels supporters were so quick to lay the boot in to one of our players. If he or anyone at our club is ever found guilty of any offence, racist taunts, misbehaviour etc, then they deserve what they get from all of us.But to read (in the Tele of all places ffs) some idiots attempt to make a name for himself and for half this forum to immediately side with them is pretty sad really.

How about some support for our players. It only seems to be because it was Tahu and not someone else. I can't for the life of me understand the hatred towards him.

It seems to be because he didn't play to the level expected of him. Can someone tell me who did???

Tahu is an immensely talented footballer and we should all be wrapped he wears the blue and gold. I hope he does next year too.

I'm not wrapped. He chews up a ridiculous salary and plays about 50% of the games if we're lucky.

Then he sticks the boot into the departing coach.

Exactly my thinking mate, however of course there will be idiots who believe the other side of the story in the NRL general forum because they just don't like Tahu and judge only bad stuff about people they don't like :(

I believed from the first second this article was posted that Tahu was innocent, the whole situation reeked to me. Now that other players, even players from the opposing team, have come out and said it's not true or that Tahu is the innocent one, that immediately tells me this is a farce too.

am i the only white idiot who thinks its rank hypocrisy for black people to scream like scalded cats if they are racially abused by a white person but then turn around and use the same racial insult amongst each other?
racism is racism no matter who says it or to whom

Tahu made a stand against one of the greats before one of the games biggest events.

He is going always be a target now.

All the whinging stuff is just crap IMO and has been blown way out of proportion
