He would have to be feelin quite fresh, he's hardly touched a ball in the last 2 years, though injuries are a bit of a concern.

I guess we will release Eric plus Wellar to cover Tahu's asking price?

With the likelihood of Hauraki and Oake going and Tahu having a clause in his contract regarding amount of games played to get his full worth we may not have to release anyone else.

I'm told that the coin that is quoted that TT was on at the Tahs is a gross exaggeration. He would be earning big ARU incentives if played regularly for the Wallabies, but just hasn't been getting game time.

=================================

EDIT: Tahu has played 20 games for NSW, 2 games for Australia A & 2 Wallaby caps. 24 games in 2 years.

Three reasons why people possibly shouldn't panic about Guru, Fui or Luke:

1. Eric is the son of one of the 3P crew;
2. Luke and Fui were until very recently managed by Spagnolo;
3. the 3 of them have probably been our most consistent players and in our Top 5 (behind only Hayne and Hindy) this season

I can't really see 3P doing a deal that will require one of those contracted players to be shafted.

If someone has negotiated a lucrative ESL deal - that's another story. It may not be those 3 though.

Also word was recently that Canberra were looking at Smith and Tautai was it not?

Between backending, non-renewed contracts next year, there may be not many or any to be released?

You could probably add th

Yeah but Colonel, irrespectively, you would still need to cater for the possible amount he could earn under the cap.

I still think

2010 - $55K
2011 - Much more - to cater for resigning Hayne, Mateo, et al.
2012 - Much much Much much more

So the backloading of Cayless' contract is seen by the new board as a bad thing but backloading Tahu's contract would be a good thing?

Fair enough... I still think Tahu would command a high-ish salary.

We were told there was room for 4 players at 55-75K each (of which Etu's re-signing is one). I guess if Wellar and Oake both left, then Tahu could get their combined money minus 55K (that would have to be put aside for an additionala member of the 25, to cover the extra player's loss). I'm not sure that would be enough (let's say $180K) for Tahu to sign.

Well reading between the lines on Colonels post if it's 2 of the 4 mentioned and not Burt or Inu then Grothe and Fui are gone.
TBH if we lose those 2 to get Tahu i personally don't think it's worth it

I agree totally. Especially FFMM. f**k we can't lose him. Arghhhhhhh. :x

I never said it would be both..... IMO it is one or the other if Hauraki and Oake aren't enough to get him under the cap if his deal isn't backloaded.

I don't wanna lose Grothe OR Fui. Inu can go and get stuffed as far as I'm concerned.

Didn't the Tigers and/or Bulldogs want him or some crap?

Maybe Eric Jr wants to get away from under his father on the Board of the same footy club? Some people are saying that's reason to stay, but I can see it equally as a valid reason to leave...

Eric went to the Roosters once upon a time to try and become his own man. So I'm thinking having made it back in firsts and kept his price up, he might be happy to try a club closer to home again?

I thought you would've said to pizz off Haha and put Burt there so he can tell people where to defend. I'm sure Souths could use Wing's money for Haha.
