TIMANA Tahu is poised to end his flirtation with rugby union and make a surprise return to rugby league next season with Parramatta.
It is understood that Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne approached Tahu earlier this month about a return to the NRL and the centre has agreed a three-year contract with the Eels.
Tahu is understood to be seeking a release from the four-year deal he signed with the Australian Rugby Union at the end of 2007, believed to be worth $2 million.
However, he struggled to break into the Wallabies ranks and speculation has grown in recent weeks that a return to the NRL was on the cards.
Tahu played two seasons with the Eels before switching codes. He also played 11 games for NSW and five Tests for the Kangaroos.

Lote Tuqiri might not be returning to rugby league but one rugby convert who will be back in the NRL is Timana Tahu, who has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Parramatta Eels.
Tahu, who played for the Eels and Newcastle during his NRL career before joining the NSW Waratahs in rugby union, will rejoin Parramatta in 2010 according to News Ltd reports.
Parramatta is yet to confirm whether Tahu has signed on for next season.
The centre/winger spent most of the recent Super 14 season on the bench for the Waratahs and is believed to have triggered a get-out clause in his contract with the Australian Rugby Union – which was worth almost $2 million over four years.
Tahu follows Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers as rugby union converts who returned to the NRL, while former Brisbane Broncos star Tuqiri was sacked by the Waratahs earlier this month.
