<H1 class=section-heading>Timana Tahu set for return to Parramatta
Brent Read | July 22, 2009

Article from: The Australian
TIMANA Tahu is poised to end his flirtation with rugby union and make a surprise return to rugby league next season with Parramatta.
It is understood that Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne approached Tahu earlier this month about a return to the NRL and the centre has agreed a three-year contract with the Eels.
Tahu is understood to be seeking a release from the four-year deal he signed with the Australian Rugby Union at the end of 2007, believed to be worth $2 million.
However, he struggled to break into the Wallabies ranks and speculation has grown in recent weeks that a return to the NRL was on the cards.
Tahu played two seasons with the Eels before switching codes. He also played 11 games for NSW and five Tests for the Kangaroos.

Lote Tuqiri might not be returning to rugby league but one rugby convert who will be back in the NRL is Timana Tahu, who has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Parramatta Eels.

Tahu, who played for the Eels and Newcastle during his NRL career before joining the NSW Waratahs in rugby union, will rejoin Parramatta in 2010 according to News Ltd reports.

Parramatta is yet to confirm whether Tahu has signed on for next season.

The centre/winger spent most of the recent Super 14 season on the bench for the Waratahs and is believed to have triggered a get-out clause in his contract with the Australian Rugby Union &#8211; which was worth almost $2 million over four years.

Tahu follows Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers as rugby union converts who returned to the NRL, while former Brisbane Broncos star Tuqiri was sacked by the Waratahs earlier this month.

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Best news all day. Hopefully we still keep Inu and Cayless.

Id say this would be within the cap. Other wise that would be taking a huge risk.

f**k I'm soooooooo confused. Is it good news or bad. Good if somehow we don't lose the likes of FFMM, Burt & Grothe. Not sure what to think if we lose them though. FFMM is a must keep imo.

Some people have been saying Inu is certain to stay. Others saying Burt is staying 100%. Guru is going no where. Arghhhhhhhhhh f**k I'm so confused.

Cut the crap everyone, it's obvious its Cayless who is going. Think about it, to accommodate Tahu, someone on a fairly substantial income has to go to make way for him. It can't be Grothe on his own unless he goes with Burt.

i rkn stagger/jodeci have a fair idea of who might be departing. Judging by some of their responses, it seems like it will be a big loss...

FMD there are some panicy worry warts on this forum.

We've just signed a bloke who was probably the best centre in the game when he left and probably will be again once he finds his feet.

How about we just enjoy this signing and wait and see who, if anybody is playing elsewhere next year when or if that bridge comes?

I swear to god half of you people are going to give yourselves ulcers.

Put Inu back on the wing and partner him with Tahu, they had an awesome combo and put reddy and guru on the other side of the field. WHAT A BACK LINE.

Now as for who will be leaving lets go through this.

We sign Tahu, Shack and Poore

Gone are:
Cordoba
Wright
Finch

Good as gone are:
Hauraki
Paulo
Latimore
Lowrie
Tautai
Galuvao
Kingston
Oake

Others who may be on the outer:
Ben Smith
Jeff Robson

Hindy backloaded his contract to free up a bit of room (How much of a legend is this guy)

I would say the 'good as gone' list if they can find other clubs is where the money for tahu is coming from.

Still leaves us with a few spots for the squad next season. Maybe now the 50-75k players will be signed.
