 only time will tell. but i will definitely say he has more skill and composure than 17 shane perrys

i agree, Robo is definitely a better package than Perry was and Robo did it with a rookie five eight outside him unlike Perry who had the best footballer in the world at the time, outside of him.

hey casper, your posts are motivating, cant wait for 2010...it appears you have a big love affiar with robo, he is a good player. I also think mortimer has the potential to be a long term eels captain as well. The other bloke i see as a future captain is tim mannah.

I try not to place my expectations on any player, instead I go looking for what they have to offer and how best to bring that out and how it can be best used to benefit a team game. It appears DA has these skills in great abundance.

For captain, Robbo, ticks all the boxes. He has many skills. In a way he reminds me of Steven Edge. Nothing fancy but solid and dependable, without bullsh*t or airs & wanky-wanky graces (drama queens) around him.

We have to work with what we got (can get). If Tim Smith was on board I would have restructured the Eels attacking and defensive games, but he ain't with us but Robbo is. For Casper, Robbo is the next cab off the rank so I have zoomed in to what Robbo is all about and what he brings to the table. DA has got Robbo all sussed out.

Lets ALL get behind Robbo "unconditionally" and support him wholeheartedly to lead the Eels to win the 2010 NRL premiership (not reserve grade Twizzle!). Lets not be a divided house but a united one.

In Robbo, you have my full support.

KK is a lethal attacking weapon. Best to use him running off 2nd phase plays (at the line) through staggered walls and tired forward defenses or use him to make forwards chase him either side of the ruck pulling them away from their structured walls-of-defence, and with fast play-the-balls (his brother, Mortimer & Burt can be part of this 2nd/3rd/4th tackle tactic) provide Robbo, Mortimer, Hayne & Mateo the opportunity to swing the ball out wide quickly with Fui & co running at backs with only thin/fragile walls of defence in the way.

Tim Mannah needs a few more years developing his formidale powerhouse game before we start thinking of him as captain material. I like 7, 6, 9 & 13 as a captain/general unless circumstances requires a prop, 2nd rower, center, winger or fullback picked as captain.

fair point casper, it is certainly a good situation to be in if you are DA. Look what he achieved in his first year as coach, managed to turn them into a team playing for each other and it really showed. I really look forward to what he can do with next years squad having so many options in most roles up for grabs.

In DA we trust!!

Any recent news from the players, coach, trainers, etc about how Brett Kenny Mach 2 (Tom Humble) and Pele Pelatese are going?

Also, what's the latest on Karl Filiga & James Grehan, are they staying or leaving???

Gazing into my crystal ball I reckon that Inu will seek and be granted a release in mid 2010.

And who do you leave out of the backrow?

Well after the 2009 GF, it was obvious refs and sideline officials had no idea what is a 10 meter and what is a fair/fast play the ball, so I say.... use 14 players on the field,.... the officials won't notice this..... and hardly anyone else will want to disturb the peace by complaining about it. And if anyone did complain, do what the Masons are good at...... turn it into a conspiracy theory... and whoever complains....... well, they get labelled a "fruit-cake".....

They did it (and still do) with 9/11...

Yep, the buzz of Robbo being captain will lift all the players around him as they did for the last 12 games of the 2009 season.

Hindy does not have the tactical on-field skills in the heat of the moment to be a GENERAL running the tram al over the park. Hindy is too often in the firing line doing what he is very good at. Lets leave Hindy alone.

Burty, is not a General. Burty is a freak, best to let the freak shine instead of allowing his freaky spontaneous skills be clouded/bogged down by captaincy.

Robbo is the General now. He has the right temperament to be captain, even better than Caylo. It's time for DA to tap Caylo on the shoulder unless Caylo does it himself. Jeff is so composed and relaxed during the heat of battle, that he is able to (in his brain), step back, assess what is going on all around him from a high vantage spot, and make an instant decision.

Mortimer, Hayne, Burt, Mateo and the two Keatings can handle most of the kicking game when required while Robbo orchestrates the attack and defence (with Burt, Hayne and Tahu supporting him in defence).

With Robbo captain the Eels get three benefits, a) all the other players get to play their best games without the burden of being captain, b) Mortimer learns from Robbo (and others), is allowed to be groomed and will take over as captain (and probably number 7) when Robbo retires in three years or so. c) Robbo is a natural captain and the Eels machine will be even slicker with him as boss.

Interesting points...
