what's negative about it??? a drop goal is way to score, just like a try. if the scores are locked after 70 mins, you will often see teams attempting to break the dead lock with drop goals, so there's nothing wrong with it after the 80th minute

I was talking about football/soccer

But the interesting thing with league is many teams spurn penalties, drop goals (and mock union for taking them) through the 80mins... yes, I agree points are points

Was it golden try in the nines? I believe it was because Souths were camped on the Sharks line for a good few minutes trying to score.

If it was GP they would have used that field position to kick some crappy field goal but as it was we got at least 5 extra minutes of great action and the Sharks made Souths work their ass off for that win.

If you make it golden try guaranteed every time it will go up to the video ref, there will be controversy, a team will lose to a ridiculous decision and everyone will whinge

There is nothing stopping a team going for a try in gp currently, and i dont think forcing them to score one will make it any more exciting.
