Geez the admin of our game was good back then! International super star promo, new clubs from all over the country and NZ joining the comp , grassroots numbers through the roof. And all on a fraction of the revenue the game earns now. Be nice to have some management like that again one day!

Who would be the equivalent of Tina doing an NRL promo/GF now? Beyonce, Rihana, maybe?

..if u think V'Landys sold TV rights for not much wait to u hear what arko got..

There will never be another like her. Tina Turner brought sexiness to the rugged game of Rugby League. And her sexiness was done in a respectful classy manner.

Her real name was Anna Mae Bullock. She was an African American of part Cherokee and Navajo desecent.

When you look at her ad campaigns of "What you get is what you see" and "Simply the best", there was a presence about her. You couldn't take your eyes off her. She was a great entertainer and singer. Her mannerisms in those ads was a melting pot of fun, excitment and joy.

Her greatest strength was that she appealed to everyone. She connected with families, women and people of different races. Turner was the total package.

And of course, her song, The best" is one of the great anthems. If the NRL handed out immortals to non players, she would be high on the list. She was tremendous for game. No one has come close to her with promoting the game. She was the St. George Dragons 11 straight, Qld Maroons 8 straight version of the game off the field.

Tina Turner was simply the best.
RIP

Sold the sex appeal of players to attract female fans.

I want the NRL to honour her posthumously in some way shape of form. An award named after her? statue? ....just something.

Here is a left field idea. Imagine the NRL had it's own stadium. Inside the stadium, you could have a built-in performing arts studio, which would be named after her.

A facility for aspiring actors, musicians, dancers. Some of those students could perform on grand final day as part of the entertainment. Just a wild thought out loud.

The NRL players are confused

All this time they’ve been doing Ike Turner tributes
