it's just as bad for the GC Soccer team and Clive Palmer is no dunce

Labor has gifted the AFL.

let them out of a contract that games be played at the GABBA twice

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport...yed-at-the-gabba/story-e6frepex-1226188147516

they gave them naming rights http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2011/03/15/299455_gold-coast-afl.html

they would also not have to pay the levy that the Titans and GC United do

so much so that Palmer does this http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/sport/gold-coast-crowd-cap-ridiculous-says-roar-20091028-hk64.html

This pisses me off. How does this shit happen...

it's just News Ltd bullshit
Exactly. Even Bulldogs & Roosters prob the 2 richest Sydney Clubs sell home games.

The Centre of Excellence just got build like any new business will take time to make money. The Titans have to pay the bank loans & keep the club running. So of course at times cash flow will be low. As outsiders pay to use the centre of Excellence it will pay for itself & they will be fine.

No, I think its a lesson in not wasting huge amounts of money on unnecissary projects.

I wonder how the Bulldogs would have gone if the Liverpool casino/stadium development went ahead and ran into financial problems.

At least with the Sharks development some of the risk is mitigated by the project being run by a developer who will pay out the Sharks an initial figure.

The Centre of Excellence is a good idea, but only if you can afford it.

Even so, I wish it had.

AFL has a leadership that puts demands on Govt, NRL doesn't.

Thinking it about it, it could make great financial sense for a club to link up with PNG. PNG are never getting a team in the NRL so the area is ripe for a NRL team to move in and become an adopted team. Even though most of the pop earns very little you could earn a zillion from chinese cheap versions jerseys in a country of 6million RL mad people! Add in opportunities to scout for new talent plus some opportunities to tap into PNG backed companies and two games a year plus a few trips over there by players and coaches for clinics, media etc could be a massive boost to any clubs coffers. Titans PNG membership $10, 500K buy in, nice earner.

Did the NRL demand from the Q'land govt a good deal for the Titans before they admitted them? I bet they didn;t. If they had said "we will admit the Titans as the next NRL team but you have to A) build them a new stadium and B) these are the lease agreements for that stadium for the club otherwise no team" then the Titans probably wouldn;t be in the situation they are in. HAs the NRL ever challenged the Q'land Govt about the stadium deals for Q'land NRL teams? Again probably not as they are not a proactive advocate group for the game.

You can hate the AFL as much as you like but they have got their sh*t together when it comes to getting the best deals they can for their clubs and game.

you are a complete f**king nut

the Titans had to do the work themselves as they are private and were bidding to get in along with the CC

the GC won out the two coming up with the best bid

the AFL put teams there owned by the AFL and had the Queenland LNP party won the election then they refused to give the scabs money for a new stadium http://www.abc.net.au/news/2009-03-12/health-more-important-than-football-stadium/1616132

so it's a Labor/AFL thing

dickhead

and FTR the LNP gained seats on the GC in the election so their promise for no stadium didn't cost them a vote

nobody wanted AFL on the GC apart from the AFL, Labor and News Ltd

C*CKHEAD that's my point! If the NRL was half the organisation the AFL is they would have been proactive and ensuring that a succesful bid (wherever it is) was getting the full support of that State Govt to make the bid as sucesful as possible. That means when assessing the CC,Wellington and GC bids they should have chosen their prefered location THEN gone to that State Govt and demanded their support before the bid was admitted. Just like the AFL have done with the Suns. Fortunately they seem to be learning and have been working with the WARL to get the WA State Govt to upgrade nib to future NRL standard. Would you like me to get the crayons out and draw you a picture?

yup

totally missed the point

the AFL had no ties with Liberal and would have got NO stadium. NO stadium. you know sweet f**k all

and the NRL don't get involved in two private mobs fighting each other for a spot in the comp
