Someone should show these senior players - Lane, Brown, Penisini, Hopgood, even Paulo - video footage this week, of what they played like in 2022 (or early 2023 for Hopgood).

Might fire a rocket up them to get a little closer to what they're all individually capable of. And if shown in front of some of the younger Eels might embarrass them into pulling their fingers out of their arse and having an actual red hot go.

Penisini has gone from a possible future rep centre to a ron massey cup player who can't do 1 basic well anymore.

Hopgood - Didnt have a pre-season. Back injuries can be tricky to recover from. Not writing him off.

Paulo - Past it probably been a bit overrated on these forums.

I reckon his best season was 2020. I truly believe Fittler played him in Origin for 2 years too long. RCG should have had that spot.

Gutho got caught out quite a few times for us defending in the line and teams chipping in behind him or overcommitting on a shift and the opposition swing it back to the other side of the ruck over the years. Will we be smart enough to take advantage of that…

You can still dominate with an indifference in result. Sometimes caring too much about perfection or end result can be detrimental to performance.

I think Twiz meant the reserves in NRL in jerseys up to #22 - guys that can be called in as late changes when the squad is trimmed to 19 the day before, and 18 on game day.

Flannagan simplified his game and he excelled

Was our current R&R team doing the recruiting that year.

Brian Smith did a incredible job to get to 9 wins that season after losing Lyon in round 1 & Vaealiki in round 7.

He's a winger, for sure.

But I, personally, have been happy with his form - he's tried his arse off for us.

If the gimps playing inside him tried half as hard as he does, we wouldn't be 0 and 4...
