fmd.

You mean a lot of you guys have just realised how badly run this club is? What rock are you living under? This type of thing has been going on at our club for years and I have had a gutful years ago.

Fitzy has come out this morning saying the cap should be lowered. Well obviously he has taken it upon himself to ensure we do that at this club.

This news about Williams and Mannah does not surprise me one little bit. I am used to it.

Seriously guys - are you all really that surprised. I still can't believe that the club somehow, managed to resign Inu and Hayne. I really can't.

The fact is they did keep Inu and Hayne and also Mateo and the Keating boys and will most probably keep the next crop of stars like Albert, Mitchell, Marty Lewis, Tim Mannah the list goes on, and yet you and plenty of others are bitter and twisted because another club payed overs for a kid who has talent but no consistincy or work ethic. Please name the juniors who have left that showed huge talent and have gone on and made us look silly. Not the ones who like Paul Gallen showed nothing as a kid but developed well later. Tony Williams is best sumed up for me in last years PL GF. I looked at his performance or lack of one against Taullima who had a red hot go. Taulima might not have the talent of Tony but I bet he goes further in the game.

This was in response to Gronk saying that we see on a regular basis a blow up in regard to a star junior leaving. It outlines my concerns with the whole issue.

True, it does. However in previous seasons we have either had other players coming through to replace them or at least had some signings in terms of first grade talent coming into the club.

This year is different in the fact that the club have maintained that they will focus on the juniors coming through as their main priority yet when a player they have earmarked as a long term prospect is let go to another club it raises the alarm bells to a new high.

I have maintained I don't care that Manly have offered him first grade money. However, as a player "Our coaches have recognised and nurtured [sic] his abilities over the past four years..." he should have been wrapped up on a decent deal long before this.

Since 2006 however we have lost or will lose - Ian Hindmarsh, Mark Riddell, Dean Widders, John Morris, Glenn Morrison, Wade McKinnon, Ash Graham, Luke O'Dwyer, Brett Delaney, Aaron Cannings, Ian Henderson, Daniel Wagon, Tim Smith, Chad Robinson, Michael Lett, Blake Green, Justin Tsoulos, Zeb Taia, PJ Marsh, John Williams, David Williams, Ben Farrar to name just half a dozen.

In that time our major signings have been Brett Finch, Todd Lowrie, Ian Hindmarsh and Joe Galuvao and only two of those players through design or form have played a decent amount of first grade football.

And while we have re-signed the likes of Jarryd Hayne, Krisnan Inu, Feleti Mateo, Kris and Matt Keating, Cordoba, Ben Smith and Taulima to name a few we are gradually sliding down the scale of where we sit in terms of playing strength.

We have a part time squad that doesn't even get a look in on the first grade squad even in terms of injuries which seems to mean the club are banking on the Under 20's squad being the feeder side for the next lot of players coming through. Many of these players are a year or two away from the first grade squad however a few of them are already making up the twenty five players that make up our salary cap.

It is concerning that the recruitment and development of these kids is being rushed and the club will again be at the point where they were before Brian Smith arrived at the club in terms of good juniors leaving, journey men being signed to make up the numbers and a yearly position on the ladder that rivalled Souths and Wests.

add me to the list, the administration of this club is a disgrace. The lame excuses trotted out by Fitzgerald are a slap in the face to every eels supporter and any player to pull on the Blue and Gold. If we only offered 75K to one of the most exciting talents to come through our club then we are f*cked. Maybe if he got a taste of first grade this year he might have stuck around. Instead he has to sit around behind the likes of Grothe and Reddy who have been going like busted arses. Even an untried Ben Smith got rushed in ahead of him. Dickheads!

im sorry but Reddy has not been playing like a busted arse... one of out best this season

Sure, if we were looking to replace the turnstyles at the stadium

Reddy has done far more than the 'superstars' in our team this year. To mention him is a joke....just like you are!

I agree with your points and get your angry, but to mention Reddy as a part of the players who are not performing is wrong...

My points? Calm down, have a proper look at the situation, then post...ok?

Going to the footy as season ticket holders when a kid I remember how irrational many of the 'died in the wool' Parra fans that sat near us were and used to wonder if they were watching the same game as me. It seems their offspring account for 98% of the posts in this thread.

Me too.

After 40 years membership of both the Footy and Leagues club I've finally had enough. Pricey is spot on, the club will never be successfull while ever Fitz is there and Ronnie and Alan have become just as bad.

it's about making the right decsions and manageing your roster, something we can't get a grasp on at the moment.

Colonel said this morning, that we should of tied this kid up in January, I tend to agree, tbh I actually thought his contract was up at the end of 09.

further to all this I had intersting conversation with someone "in the know" this morning who's advised me to ignore the excuse of money offered to Williams, as it wasn't about that.

Pray tell.

pretty much...

Well without giving too much away my source was from the Manly side of things.
Thats the reason I tend to harp on about the juniors getting a break. I get really pissed off when I hear that the youngsters are all jack about the club because they are not getting the opportunity. Its not an isolated incident.
