"Todd Carney signs with Roosters" looks different to "Carney rules the roost" IMO...

In that thread yes. Before I'd even done anything in this one? Please.

For once I'm not the one who drove this off topic. Wake up to yourselves.

That's the point isn't it? No one cares what your opinion is.

atherton is the closest place in the cdrl comp to canberra one time i played there it was around 10 degrees or maybe lower and it rained slightly.
but belive me if there isnt a alchoholo related matter this year ofr todd im going to be suprised atherton is a tough country town and if your a footballer with very weak will-power like carney there youre bound to be out on the piss one night.
but if he does manage to turn over a new leaf kudos to him

Yep, Atherton is pretty miserable during the drizzle. The BV (the team's main sponsor) is a real hub in the town too. Ditto the Nassers who run said pub and manage the Roosters. And will be giving him a job. And board. Let's just say he will be in the pub a fair bit.

How do Canberra have any say in this at all?

They sacked him in conjunction with the NRL that he would not be allowed to sign with another NRL side in 2009. That being said, the Raiders are only really showing that they want this bloke to sort himself out and they feel that he is ignoring a huge problem. I just hope the Roosters are going to be as thoughtful toward when he inevitably f**ks up on his return.

Yep. Their problem here is not that he's going to be playing for Atherton - I'm sure if that's all it was, they'd give their blessing.

The thing is, they genuinely care for Todd and fear for his future. He's heading down a bad road. Think about this for a second... he could have stayed in Canberra if he got off the drink. That's the one thing he refused to do. I'll reiterate that: none of this would have happened if he decided not to drink for a while. Him going to work and live in a pub... it's got disaster written all over it, and I think the Raiders know that. That's why they have offered (and still continue to offer) to pay for counselling for Todd, because it's more than just a football career at stake here.

The CDRL comp will sort him out for mine ... he won't get the on-field protection he's used to up there but the off-field lifestyle should suit him down to the ground. Played and coached in the CDRL and you can bet your sweet XXXX that Atherton is not far enough away from Cairns to isolate TC from the bright lights and backpacking unshaved underarm set that he will be out to impress ... good luck to him, he nearly made it in the bigtime but now he can pull beers, pick bananas and tell tall tales & true to a new group of wannabe's.

Word in the Tabelands is that Todd will be on 50K for his "job" in the pub/bottle shop and about 35 to 40 for the Roosters.

Thats might be the best paid pub employee in the Australia, if not the world.

But Im with Skeepe putting an alcholic(or someone with at least drinking issues) to work in a pub?? Is that smart?
