The fact it's misleading is my point.

it’s actually untrue imo. You can’t “run the game” without the clubs so why not include their grant as well, or the states leagues funding, or grass roots funding. They’ve cherry picked some expenditure lines to make the dumb public believe the nrl has been wasting millions on admin and corporate costs. And reading social media the dumb public believe them!

They are using the expenditure figures the nrl reported are they not?

It's fairly clear (can't believe I'm defending PR here) that he's suggesting it's silly to not include club grants as expenditure (the NRL Annual Report counts it, along with State & Developement expenditure as "Distributions").

they are cherry picking some. For example the biggest one they’ve included by far is the “event game and sponsorship” line item. This accounts for $103.2mill of that $181million they are quoting. Now this line has nothing to do with running the game, it is the money the nrl invests in order to generate non media revenue. And if you look at that area we are spending $103.2million to generate $203.9million. An outstanding result!

If you wanted to look at a genuine costs of putting on the nrl comp you’d choose different line items
Club grants
X% of admin
Insurance
Football
Player welfare
Integrity unit

Like timmah and I have said, they’ve cherry picked figures to make Greenberg look bad, and even then haven’t got the maths right!

Yes I know that, I’m taking issue with ‘cherry picked’ line. If they are using the nrl figure they haven’t cherry picked anything.

geez how hard is to comprehend? They very clearly have. No one is saying these figures don’t exist, we are saying they’ve cherry picked some expenditure line items to make a scurrilous argument about how poorly the nrl hq is run. It’s BS, how can you not see that?

FFS stop being disingenuous about everything put to you. We get it, you didn't like Greenberg and you're happy he's gone.

The point being made is that sections of the media are deliberately failing to provide any detail or context around expenditure, portraying it as lavish and providing the public with no understanding.

You might understand it, I might understand it, but it means the masses are left with a false impression of what actually happened.

No, they have used the Nrl reported figures and not mentioned revenue.

Good riddance, dodgy snake oil salesman.

I’m sure he can find a safe NSW Labor seat somewhere and he can push his identity politics all he likes.

Yeah, his time at the Bulldogs certainly indicates he'd make a good politician.

She still had got plenty more work to do at the ARU first. It’s still breathing.

She's got to work on that hideous, black make-up first before she can fix the ARU. Looks like she walked out of a witches coven.

Stop being so defensive. Unless the expenditure figure they have used is incorrect there is nothing egregious in that reporting.

I'll react how I see fit but thanks.

No idea why the term egregious has come into it, but the points PR and I have made are valid - the reporting is designed to mislead the average fan, it's as simple as that.

If they reported it the way PR would like the figure would look worse for Greenberg not better ffs. You two clowns are only agreeing because you love to defend Greenberg and he loves to criticise the nrl, you aren’t saying the same thing at all.

I've made it clear on a number of occasions over the years that I'm no fan of Todd Greenberg.

My biggest issue being what I perceive to be the lack of a clear vision for the game; with expansion still a fairly muddled mess despite 6 years in office.

BUT...

I am happy to put my feelings towards Greenberg aside for a moment in pursuit of what clearly remains the biggest stain on the game - namely still being dictated to by mediocre and archaic media organisations.

It's embarrassing, poisonous and destructive; just to name a few choice descriptive words.
