Todd Greenberg stands down

lol, there is no logic or validity to the few line items they have decided to pick out of the annual report. It neither shows the “cost of running the comp” “the cost of running the game” and it certainly does not in any way shape or form reflect the administration cost of the nrl, which is what they were trying to claim it does. It is misleading, false and designed for one purpose, to unfairly make Greenberg look bad at his job. It’s sht journalism 101, and some have fallen for it hook, line and sinker (looking at you mate)

Therein lies the logic you suggest there isn’t..
Ie - the logic to make Greenberg look bad at his job.

There is no story if he’s good at what he does. There’s a big story if he’s bad at what he does.

Professionals Journalists need stories to have relevance and justify themselves on the payroll in such a diverse media market as exists today.

There is no football to report on due to Covid. So the natural source of stories is dry.

So...

How does a journalist gain a story that gives them relevance and justifies them on the payroll...?

Good stories don’t sell subscriptions. Bad stories do.

Bye bye baby bye bye.

Seriously. Not as bad as made out to be. But absolutely no chance he was keeping his job. Those who have worked in business know it was the only outcome. Reality wins again.

Thank God according to News Ltd and Nine the resurrection of Jesus Christ is now chairman of the ARLC.

We’ve got nothing to worry about I’m sure. :smirk:

Game is broke. Been burning squillions in head office. Worrying should have started years ago.

Wholly f**k. There's absolutely no need for a 250 million loan looking at those figures.

Brilliant!

Flush with cash!!!

why would he? He’s used to dealing with an independent commission, not the dogs breakfast that is the ARLC
Oh I don't think he would, it'd just be a nice world where the NRL hired someone competent with experience in good financial management and support for expansion into non-traditional territories.

Basically he's the exact opposite of what the NRL would hire, likely to end up with Sterlo or Phil Kearns.

... well, we'd be good for it if we needed it though? Wouldn't we?

well given pretty much every business out there is massively impacted, and the likes of virgin are going under, I guess relatively speaking we arent going too badly are we?
But you do agree, virus aside, we weren’t broke and we were travelling well financially last two years?

It’d be a waste of his talents. Commission set the strategy. There is no expansion because of the commissioners, not because of the ceo. The commission sign off on the annual budget and set the investment strategy, they review the mo they financial performance, it was the chairman who agreed to overpaying the clubs (ceo wanted it at $11million). Basically we keep blaming the ceo for the failings of the commission.
