With the downpour at the main stadium, the women’s discus looked more like ice skating, spinning in the concrete circle….

Meanwhile further to @SpaceMonkey ’s post, Hassan, after that fall then win earlier today in the stifling heat of the 1500…. Is now running in the final of the 5000…

And wins gold, mindblowing..

Question for the folks in here...

Is there any olympic sport that you'd never otherwise watch that you've been watching a lot of?

Mine is Volleyball...

For me, it's always full of action.... always fast-paced... and the thing that sticks out to me is the energy of the players after winning a point.

Been following it closely - was up late watching USA vs Poland last night in the Womens...
I used to do a fair bit of rowing so I of course watched a lot of that.

Have been loving watching however the artistic gymnastics, the field events (things like pole vault, hammer throw and discus) and also the badminton. I was welling up watching that Danish fella win the badminton last night, he looked absolutely elated to have won it was awesome to see.

How is that even a sport let alone an olympic sport

It's pretty fun. Did it for fitness for a little while before my rotator cuff decided to emulate a grenade after 20 years of pace bowling....but yeah, weird Olympic effort. It's hardly riveting viewing?

My theory is, much like including bmx a few years ago and skateboarding, they are trying to attract young generations to the games.

Im not overly bothered about these. Personally I’m more annoyed than sports like football, basketball, tennis, and now golf, are Olympic sports…

Professional sports like these where players earn huge dollars just don’t have a place at the Olympics IMO.
