I love how everyone has forgotten about kris keating already. in his couple of games at half back this year he showed more then mortimer has in 10 or so games. and mortimer has been great. kris hasn't had the some run of games as mortimer has in the halfs when he does he will show what a great player he will also be.

KKeating doesn't have a short kicking game or a money ball to save his life. His long kick is sound and he is nippy in attack. Sorry but I reckon he'll sub his bro in the long term.

He looks like a very good signing for us, i heard he signed for around 60k which look like we have got a bargain.

yeah, that footage has got me very excited, he's got some toe doesn't he? I just hope and pray that when he can step up to a new level because he appears to have the attacking ability of Ben Barba lets hope he doesn't adopt other parts of his game.

60K is a bargain considering Kelly has cracked the 100k mark at the sharks.

The try just into the second half was the one to see.
40 metres from the tryline
He gets the ball second off the ruck, props then hits the afterburners.
Straight through.
He scorched past two players, one of which was PJ Marsh.

I am telling you that this kid is so much like Brett Kenny its amazing.
The gait, the laconic way he handles himself, the burst of speed.

I know we have some halves but this kid will be too good for under 20s and Wenty next year.

My bold prediction is that we will finish next year with this halves combo - 6. Humble 7. Mortimer.
As it is generally acknowledged that the Qld Cup is of a better standard than the NSW Cup, he will be too good to keep out of the top team.

has a bit of a young darren lockyear about him to?

Keating certainly did NOT show more than Mortimer has.

K Keating might pan out - but so far his first grade career has been 'adequate'.

Don't get me wrong - I certainly think that he has the potential to be a good player - but Mortimer is streets ahead of him IMO.

I also like the look of Tom Humble in the admittedly VERY brief highlights - seems like the guy must have some pretty good skills to be chased so hard!

The good thing is that it looks like we'll have 3 talented young halves in the stable for next season (Mortimer, Keating, Humble) - exciting!

Absolutely.

I caught up with a mate yesterday in Sydney and although a big parra supporter, when I mentioned Tom Humble, he thought I was having a lend of him.
I see that he has well and truly slipped under the radar around Sydney but expect that to change.
What I liked most about him was that he chose to join parra because they had been so honest and had deal professionaly with him all year, whereas the cowboys only came in with a late offer. He has always wanted to play from NQ but his sense of fair play told him to sign with the eels.
The only thing that can hinder this kid is homesickness or injury.

If you get a chance, have a look at the Qld Cup GF. Im pretty sure Trent Hodkinson is playing in the halves for the opposition.
Trent is also going great guns.

Wonder if Trent is regretting signing with the Idiots from Brookvale. if he showed some patience he would def been given a few chances at first grade with Parra.

No doubt, considering Robson has been our starting halfback most the the year.

I think I've given a couple of run downs on Tom, and its good now that others have watched him. I tried not to use the lockyer comparison, but a young lockyer is probably what he resembles most in terms of style of player. The problem sometimes is people then expect that he will be as good as lockyer, he probably won't but at the very least he is great back up at 6 and 1 for us.

He is not the most creative 5/8th in the world for other players, but to be honest in our team he probably doesn't need to be. He would be good fit because he can either give the ball to our big fast dangerous outside backs and/or Mateo. But his great strength in attack is the thurston style dummy and/or step and accelerate through the gap. Given the likes of Hayne, Tahu and Mateo who will be outside him you'd think the odd defender might give him some space and he has genuine speed which is a threat at any level. Also from his days of playing fullback he is a very good support player.
Having watched him all year I am wrapped that we got him and I do think he can push for a starting spot at the club, its then whether he can step up. But if he can take what he does at qld cup level to nrl he will be a success for us.

I like the idea posted of
6 Humble
7 Mortimer
14 Kris

But its always a mystery on how a player will step up to the next level, we will wait and see and at the moment you would be think Kris would be the one starting for us next year.
