Tonga facing Eels axe for Manly NRL game

Updated: 19:26, Tuesday July 3, 2012

Willie Tonga is in danger of becoming the third member of Parramatta's 2012 recruitment class to be dumped to reserve grade after being named on an extended bench for Sunday's NRL clash against Manly.
It seems only an injury to fullback Jarryd Hayne in Wednesday night's State of Origin decider will spare Tonga from the axe after he was handed the No.19 jumper to accommodate Hayne's expected return to the side.
It has been an injury-plagued return to the club for the former Queensland and Test representative, who has played just nine games this season and only came back from an ankle injury last weekend.
Should he find himself playing for Wentworthville in the NSW Cup, Tonga would complete the set of dumped Eels' recruits.
Fellow high-profile signings Chris Sandow and Ben Roberts have also found themselves chopped from the top grade at different stages of a disappointing 2012 season.

I think Esi was in some emerging Qld Origin training squad at the start of the year. Willie was playing Origin last year. What's gone wrong with these guys?

If I can give Kearney any credit, it's that he has the balls to drop anyone. Big names do not faze him.

Would honestly like to know where Billy is playing this year. I've scoured all the threads and can't see his name anywhere.

Has he passed that ball yet?

Probably still holding on to it.
May need surgery to remove it. There's another injury layoff.

Billy Rogers is the greatest player to ever pull on a pair of boots, people in this thread trash talking him are obviously jealous that they don't have such a high skill level like the great Billy Rogers possesses. We should all be mourning the fact the great man is no longer at our club, not wondering why Kearney consistently played him in first grade. Let's be honest people, the reason Kearney played him in first grade was because he knew just how great the man was.
