Dude Hodges is a beast - he has been on fire lately.
I'd love to see him in a manly jersey.

1. Tate (based on end of 2005 + kanga tour)
2. Gasnier (cannot be the best when he lets in 1-2 tries a game)
3. Whaitura (will move up this list by end of year)
4. Cross (absolute shambles he hasnt played SOO yet)
5. Inglis (See point for Whaitura)
6. Smith (Big, strong, defence. Great)
7. Soliola (Hits harder than most props, offload at will)
8. Cooper (decent defence. Decent attack. Well rounded player)
9. King (See Smith)
10. Hodges (getting back to his old form before he turned into a androtop)

There are lots of good centres around today,Gasnier being the best,But how people can leave Bell out of their top 10 in favour of Hodges and Tahu is amazing.
Yileen Gordon is one for the future,Inglis will play fullback thats his spot,if the Storm don't oblige he will leave and go play fullback somewhere else.

I think it's a bit fruitless trying to list top 10's in this position at the moment, there's a lot of good players going around which suggests to me that junior centres are being trained up well. Which means you have to look at who will be looked back on as greats of the game, and that chops the list down plenty. In my opinion the following players will be looked back on as *great* centres:

Mark Gasnier

Other possibilities IMO but have a catch:

Greg Inglis (I think he may end up a fullback or 5/8th)
Sonny Bill Williams (I've said it before and will say it again - this guy would be one of the all time great centres if he played there)

1. Gasnier
2. Whatuira
3. Cross
4. King
5. Cooper
6. Soliola (he will partner Whatuira for NZ)
7. Tonga
8. Tate
9. Lyon (only reason he's down so low is because i havent seen him play as i never get to see the ESL. In form he's close to number 1, and i hear he's still in fine form, but in a comp where defence is secondary)
10. Hodges (no longer fat and lazy)

Jamie Lyon is without doubt the finest centre out there at the moment.

It's safe to say he is playing in a poor comp against not so good opposition (some are very good).

The point is the things he can do a rugby field is unreal!! last year he was being forced into touch by 3 Salford players, only to fump in mid air over touch to bend the ball back into play, around the defence. It was worth the admission money alone.

Gasnier is magical when he's up for it but Lyon gets my vote because of he's all round game - awesome attack, great in defence, good leadership and great at kicking goals.

It's been a privilage watching him for 2 years.

1. Lyon
2. Gasnier
3. Cooper
4. Whatuira
5. Tahu
6. Tate
7. Tonga
8. Hape
9. Hodges
10. Soliola

I think it's a myth that Jamie Lyon is a myth. Funny, he playes rep game for Australia - he moves to England & all of a sudden he's not that good because he's playing in a inferior competition

Well that's prolly why he got the Man of Steel award
